PREDICTED: EXTREME WORLD WEATHER FEBRUARY-MARCH 2014
How does astrology predict extreme global weather? Because history repeats and astrologers noticed. Astrologers use a way of tracking time which is an alternative to the clock and calendar. It’s called an Ephemeris and it shows the Mercury Retrograde cycle, which in turn reveals extreme weather affecting the US, Europe and Australasia. The planet Mercury (shown as the Messenger of the Gods below) rules all communication networks. When he’s retrograde it’s time to reschedule, review, rethink.
Mercury specifically rules communication, transportation and negotiation. When it appears to travel backwards (retrograde) life always goes into reverse. It’s often down to extremely cold or hot weather, in major world trade and work centres.
By looking up the dates for Mercury Retrograde you can make your life a lot easier. Knowing there is a higher risk of extreme weather across Europe, the US and Australasia means you can protect yourself against the domino effects.
The shadow period for Mercury Retrograde began back on January 23rd 2014 and the actual retrograde cycle begins on February 7th. Including the final shadow it will not be over until March 22nd.
ACCURACY CHECK: EXTREME WEATHER SINCE JANUARY 23RD 2014
I am writing this on February 5th, so the world has been exposed to Mercury Retrograde Shadow for a fortnight. The BBC reports flood warnings are currently in place across England as Prince Charles visits stricken Somerset. Devon and Cornwall are ravaged.
This is the headline in the L.A.Times: Snowstorms mark winter of discontent for two-thirds of U.S.
Over at the Australian Bureau of Meteorology, severe heatwave and heatwave conditions are forecast for key parts of Australia, just as Mercury begins his retrograde cycle proper, on Friday 7th February.
HOW MERCURY LINKS TO EXTREME WEATHER
Mercury rules messages. He is the Roman version of the Greek Hermes, the Messenger of the Gods, in a winged helmet with winged sandals.
In Ancient Rome, where astrology comes from, Mercury ruled the horseback messenger system of communication and this planet was classically identified with news and trade.
Today Mercury rules the mail, telephones and computers which are of course heavily dependent on the weather. When there are power outages in storms, computer networks are disrupted. Floods can paralyse a whole nation once the chain-reaction has begun to affect agriculture. Rough seas affect shipping. At the other extreme, heatwaves can strain power supplies in countries like Australia and begin bushfires – shutdown situations.
MERCURY AND YOUR WORLD
On a mundane level, Mercury also rules simple face-to-face meetings all of which are cancelled or postponed when the roads shut down and airports close. Or you may find yourself affected through six degrees of separation. The snow which means your New York colleague has to stay home, blocks the meeting between him, you and your UK contact – who has no electricity owing to a flood – which means the Australian deal you hoped would go through, is stalled. When you’re all finally ready to renegotiate, your Aussie connection can’t make the Skype meeting in the Melbourne office because a heatwave just stopped the trains…
Watch your voice too – and the chance other people losing theirs! Mercury rules the voice, for obvious reasons – it’s the organ of communication. In extremely cold weather, the chances of picking up a cold or flu virus and losing your voice skyrocket. Lost work days in sickness or loss of sleep during heatwaves can also affect the usual flow of communication.
Mercury rules merchandise (note that Latin root word) and of course, the sharemarkets. The main arteries of the world sharemarkets are in the USA and Europe which is why extreme weather in both places can often start chaos.
In this way the famously frustrating Mercury chain-reaction begins – but with astrology you can be prepared.
MERCURY RETROGRADE COSTS!
Mercury Retrograde (from shadow to shadow) can be expensive if you don’t use astrology, and are not aware of the risks. Here is an example: Australia’s most costly natural disaster in dollar terms was a severe hail storm over Sydney on 14th April 1999, during Mercury Retrograde Shadow. Hail the size of cricket balls fell. More than 20,000 properties and 40,000 vehicles were affected and 25 aircraft were damaged at Sydney airport.
What happened when the world experienced Mercury Retrograde one year ago, at the start of 2013? Mercury staggered through 5-19 degrees of Pisces from February 9th through April 6th with these outcomes -

YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED – MORE EXTREME GLOBAL WEATHER
The world will see extreme weather disrupt the internet, electricity, the mail, transport and travel again, right until the final day of Mercury Retrograde Shadow on 21st March. Please update your insurance, back up important documents on a USB stick and keep a flexible diary as it is very likely you will be moving dates and times around. It’s a great time to review, rethink, rewind and take stock of everything. Sometimes an enforced day off work can be a very good idea! It’s not a time to launch anything ambitious, especially if everything depends on a chain of meetings, or the internet.
MERCURY IN PISCES IN FEBRUARY AND MARCH 2014 – SPECIAL RAINFALL AND FLOODING ALERT
Pisces is symbolised by the fishes and Neptune, as the ruler of Pisces, is in charge of the oceans. All waterways including rivers and the sea itself come under the rulership of this sign. When Mercury retrogrades in Pisces February 1st through 13th and again from March 18th to 21st (GMT) logic says we will see more extremely high rainfall and flooding in key economic/internet areas of the globe. History and astrology also reveal that unusually heavy snowfall and then a sudden rise in temperature can create flash flooding so be aware of that. Rising sea levels owing to other climate change conditions are also a distinct possibility.
