The September 16th Eclipse in Astrology
We have a Penumbral Lunar Eclipse on Friday 16th September at 6.54pm, London time – adjust for your country. This is a Full Moon which sees the Sun at 24 Virgo opposite the Moon at 24 Pisces. Every eclipse conceals something from you. What should be bright and obvious is covered up. Sometimes this happens because people are keeping secrets (Princess Diana and Prince Charles were keeping secrets when they married near an eclipse). At other times there is nothing suspicious – but you will be missing all the information you need.
What You Can Do
You will only be personally affected if you have Virgo or Pisces factors in your birth chart at 23, 24 or 25 degrees. If you do, please look at my notes on your chart, below. Even if your chart is not directly hit, you need to be aware of global stories which will not tell you all that you need to know – and deserve to see. Because one half of the eclipse pattern is in Pisces, some of these stories will concern drugs and alcohol – and because the other half is in Virgo, we are talking about medical or health issues. I have already made a prediction (which you can find by hitting Search) quite some time ago, that on or close to Friday 16th September we would see a major Rio Olympics doping scandal. This has already begun, thanks to hackers, but there will be more.
Beyond doping, watch the ‘news’ on this Virgo-Pisces eclipse which will not be full news reporting at all. It will concern the same themes – illness, surgery, hospitals, doctors, nurses, alcohol, illegal drugs, prescribed drugs – and you may see it panning out in any number of different ways.

If You Have Any Birth Chart Factors at 23, 24, 25
The eclipse will create hazy, unclear, dim astrological ‘weather’ around you, in the area/s of life ruled by the sign in question. So if you have the Sun at 24 Aries, the patchy, unhelpful atmosphere will be about Aries things in your life – your appearance, title, reputation, profile and so on. You may want to organise your business card another time. If you have Venus at 23 Gemini then a his-and-hers website may benefit from a thoughtful delay. Can this wait?

One way to think about any eclipse, including this one, is like a stained glass window, shading and overshadowing the light as it tries to filter through. An eclipse is striking and beautiful, like this window by Edward Burne-Jones, below. You would not try to read a book through stained glass, though, or try to steer a boat! It’s about visibility.
Other Aspects Near the Eclipse
I posted a story about the new Hinkley Point nuclear reactor in England because it has been timed on two eclipses and I am very concerned about what lies ahead in 2019. This prediction is based partly on the aspects near the eclipse itself.
You can read your own chart, or the charts of other people, in the same way. We’re looking for patterns around 24 degrees of any zodiac sign, on Friday 16th, Saturday 17th September. Panacea is at 23 Sagittarius. Uranus is at 23 Aries (both on Friday). On Saturday, Mars is at 23 Sagittarius. Even as late as Sunday, Venus is at 23 Libra.
So, there is more to this eclipse than meets the eye – your eye – and all of our eyes. If your chart is triggered, ask yourself what is most obvious about the sign in question, in your horoscope, and the horoscope factor in that sign. So, for example, if you have the Ascendant at 24 Cancer, you know the issue will be your reputation within the family – easily decoded if you use your Premium Membership. You’ll know right away where to allow yourself and others more time and space. Let the Moon pass out of Pisces.

If You Have Virgo Factors at 23, 24, 25
You may prefer to wait until the Moon has passed right out of Pisces before you make final, detailed judgement calls or take dramatic action without checking – this occurs at 4.22am on Saturday 17th September in London (adjust for your country). The specific issues to be aware of will involve your physical condition and/or your workload, both of which are ruled by Virgo in the Sixth House of your birth chart. Astrology and history tell us to assume nothing on an eclipse – although of course the final decision is yours, and not your horoscope’s!
If You Have Pisces Factors at 23, 24, 25
You may also want to wait until the Moon is right out of Pisces at 4.22am on Saturday 17th September (London time) before you pass major judgements – specifically about your secrets, your role behind the scenes, classified information or confidential concerns. This is not going to help your clarity. Pisces in your chart also rules clairvoyance, mediumship, astral travel and the etheric body, so you may prefer to experiment another time, when you can see in the clear light of day. As always, the decision is up to you – and not up to your chart.
How to Understand Eclipses – Blind Spots and Obscured Vision
I am showing you this Twitter image, passed onto me by my friend Shelley Silas, because it is a stunning example of how an eclipse resembles the human eye. You will often hear me talking about an eclipse as a blind spot. This photograph helps you remember that – the centre of the photograph looks like the pupil of an eye. Around the pupil we see murky, streaky, strange patterns. In other words – an eclipse is an unusual, important event when you just won’t see as you usually do! That is why it’s astrological tradition to wait until the Moon has left the sign in question (in this case Pisces) before making detailed assessments of situations. Again, this affects you more if your birth chart is hit – but if so, I suspect you will immediately know what I am talking about, even as you read this. You know the area of life where things seem hazy, murky, unclear, obscured, hard to see – and so on.
Eclipses, Your Horoscope and Astrology
Eclipses are cover-up jobs. You will not be shown what you need to see. People hide the truth on eclipses. It may directly affect you, so someone around you is obscuring the facts, or you may be affected through six degrees of separation. It is wise to suspend judgement or avoid taking drastic action on the day of an eclipse, but allow 24 hours before and afterwards too, so the world can catch up with itself. Events later always tell us the same thing! What was not known at the time, either because it was concealed, or yet to unfold, will ultimately change the ‘history’ surrounding that day. Obviously you don’t want this to happen if you’re applying for a job or buying a home – so watch those eclipses.
Prince Charles, Princess Diana, Eclipses and Mysteries
Prince Charles married Lady Diana Spencer on Wednesday 29th July 1981. The wedding was sandwiched between two eclipses. The first eclipse took place on Friday 17th July. The second one occurred on Friday 31st July. Somewhere between the wedding cake icing and the honeymoon, everything was hidden from the cheering crowds. It would be years until Andrew Morton’s book about the Princess, written with her secret co-operation, would reveal the truth about that time – not to mention her Panorama interview.
I have referenced the passing of the Princess elsewhere in my new ebook, 2020 Astrology (yours to collect, free, from 1st August). It happened just before a solar eclipse, two days later. More mystery! Princess Diana was born with the Sun in Cancer, the sign which is also ruled by the Moon. People born under that sign are affected more powerfully by an Eclipse according to astrology. Eclipses and the John F. Kennedy Assassination
In 1963 America went eclipse crazy. Even Peanuts mentioned it. Lee Harvey Oswald was fired from his job at Wm. B. Reily Coffee Company in New Orleans the day before on Friday 19th July 1963. The total solar eclipse the following day, Saturday 20th July, was witnessed across the United States, but nobody witnessed what was really going on with Lee Harvey Oswald. He was a nobody. Or was he? That eclipse coincided with his first fated step towards the President.
His colleague at the coffee company, Judyth Vary Baker, claims he was an undercover agent and that his job at Reily’s, like her own, was a fake. You can see Lee’s time cards and clock-in/out times in Judyth’s book, Me & Lee. Lee Harvey Oswald worked erratic hours, was frequently absent and was always late for work – but he was never penalised and was always paid in full. How very peculiar. Lee’s next job would be at the Texas School Book Depository.
Polls show that most Americans do not accept the official verdict on the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, even today. Eclipses typically leave a black spot, for years, if the zodiac signs involved, and the patterns (aspects) they make in the horoscope, are extreme.
As with the New Moon and Full Moon, there is no blanket reading. You have to put eclipses in context. If the Sun and Moon hit difficult patterns in your horoscope, or the horoscopes of particular countries, the cover-up can change history. When Lee Harvey Oswald was fired from the last job he had, before going to Texas, the total eclipse the following day saw the Sun and Moon at 27 Cancer. President John F. Kennedy was born on 29th May 1917 at 3.00pm in Brookline, Massachusetts with Saturn at 27 Cancer. If JFK had seen an astrologer about his Texas tour schedule and she had seen that eclipse on his Saturn she would have immediately dug into her filing cabinet and found the chart for the United States. As you can see elsewhere in the new ebook, 2020 Astrology, America was ‘born’ or founded, with Juno at 28 Libra. That’s way too close! It would not have been unusual for a world leader to see an astrologer. Reagan did. Centuries before, so did Elizabeth Tudor. As far as we know, Kennedy did not.
Watergate and the 1973 Gemini Eclipse
Here’s another interesting eclipse. Another cover-up – but what was concealed? On December 10th 1973 we saw a partial lunar eclipse in Gemini (which rules telephones and tape recordings, and also the media) and Sagittarius. Shadowy! Three days earlier, The White House told the world it could not explain an 18 1/2 minute gap in one of the Watergate tapes. The Washington Post reported one official theory was that ‘some sinister force’ had erased it.
What Am I Not Seeing?
Eclipses do have that fated quality about them. I was interviewed about their astrological meaning by Channel Four at Glastonbury, on August 11th 1999, when the sky went dark, two owls next to me fell asleep and the whole town fell silent. The question you should always ask when an eclipse comes around is this: What am I not seeing? As a general rule, when you see an eclipse coming, count the day before and after, and suspend big judgements or dramatic action plans. Eclipses conceal. They never fully reveal. They often blot out what needs to be seen. You are not shown the full picture. It can be harmless, but if you, or the people around you (or even the nation) gets hit by an eclipse, you will be affected. If you can choose any time at all to go ahead with big plans, you may prefer to avoid an eclipse, if it’s no big deal to move dates.
There is no need to be paranoid about eclipses, but you need to be aware that all is not what it seems. Sometimes you will never, ever know the full story. An Eclipse on a New Moon, when the Sun and Moon are in the same sign and at the same degree or number, is the birth of something new, but it will involve concealed information, unknown facts or missing details. Be careful. An Eclipse on a Full Moon, when the Sun and Moon are in opposite signs, at the same degree or number, also blots out what needs to be seen. It is more challenging, because the Full Moon describes inner or outer conflicts, too.
Stonehenge the Eclipse Computer
Robin Heath is every astrologer’s favourite Stonehenge expert. If you visit Britain’s national temple take his little book Stonehenge (Wooden Books) in your pocket. It will completely alter your experience of these famous rolling stones.
Professor Sir Fred Hoyle was the first astronomer to realise that the Aubrey Circle at Stonehenge was used to track Full Moons and New Moons with the aim of predicting a lunar or solar eclipse. Either that, or the painstaking calculations we can find today at Stonehenge are either just a truly staggering coincidence. And if Stonehenge is the result of mere chance, then so is Avebury. Lovely Avebury is just 17 miles away. As Heath suggests in his book, the circles there also strongly suggest monthly lunar cycles. Eclipses mattered then, just as they do now. Track them in your own chart to see why. Even though every eclipse conceals, rather than reveals, you have to read them by their zodiac sign and degree. If you see anything that directly triggers your horoscope then look again. If it also happens to be chiming with a difficult aspect in your chart, then you may prefer to wait until you can know more (or see more) before you make big choices. The difference between fate and astrology is that fate happens to you, and destiny is what you make your own, using the ancient practise of astrology to help you navigate and create.

There is a new moon solar eclipse in Virgo on my birthday – 1 September. I can’t help but feel there is something of real significance in this for me, but I am not sure what to expect! Auspicious comes to mind…
Yes, you have an unaspected Sun at 9 Virgo in your Sixth House of work, and the body. The New Moon would normally mean a new project, role, plan or a fresh path with your food, fitness, drugs, doctor, drink and so on. Instead what we have is a different direction for you, but one that is not fully clear – as it should be. You may want to steer clear of that whole eclipse period for big judgements or moves as there is more to be revealed and some aspects of the situation may even never be known. This is standard astrological advice for an eclipse. Don’t be too concerned about this – just use your common sense. You may want to make up your mind later and it could be something as basic as signing up for expensive gym membership without realising that the gym in question is set to close within six months!

Okay, your body is acting out and acting up, because you won’t make a move. You have Pluto at 20 Virgo and Uranus at 26 Virgo so the time is right for serious change and wonderfully for you, the biggest and best opportunity in years is coming, when Jupiter the problem-solver and miracle worker moves to 20 Virgo until July 26th followed by Jupiter moving to 26 Virgo, on your Uranus, in the final ten days of August. Use your journal to set goals, make wishes, sketch visualisations and so on, and focus on the days when you see lots of Virgo activity. Reach out for what you want and deserve – now is the time.

Thank you. There is no eclipse on 18th August, but we do have a Full Moon at 25 Aquarius. Give yourself time and space with the group (the one involving your friend) and double that message if you’re on Twitter or other social media. Contemplate before you write anything in stone with your club, team, society, association and so on. You will have a bridge to cross with these people, at that time. I don’t work with Yods.
Hi Jessica, I’m planning two important business meetings, one in the last week of August and onother one in the first week of September. I’m also planning a short holiday around the 1st of September. Will the Solar eclipse on the 1st have any effect. Or should I be more aware of Mercury being retrograde by then. I have Mars in 9 degrees Aries and Jupiter in 10 degrees Sagittarius. Thank you.
You also have Uranus at 9 Sagittarius so the Eclipse will square your Uranus Ninth House position which of course is about travel, along with Jupiter one degree away. Don’t assume anything the day of the eclipse, and a day either side. You are not being shown the full story. Whatever you are told, or what appears to be the case, may not be so, as events will later prove. One example would be, arriving at your holiday destination and being offered an apartment for your free use, only to discover later that there was a catch. There is no need to be paranoid about this eclipse, just watchful and aware. Yes, Mercury Retrograde will affect your business meetings. You know what to expect, though, so you will be well prepared. That is quite close to your Leo/Gemini/Sagittarius personal birth chart factors. You may want to skip the day of the eclipse (and the days before and after) for making big judgement calls or taking major action, especially if it’s about work/the internet/travel because you just won’t be shown the full picture. Be aware of anybody/anything that suddenly pops up at this time too, especially if it has a Virgo/Leo/Gemini/Sagittarius theme. It’s usually pretty obvious. Let the eclipse pass.

We’ve had Pluto going from 2 through 17 degrees of Capricorn in your Tenth House of career over the last six years. You have the MC (Midheaven) which is all about your highest achievement in life, exactly on your Sun at 18 Capricorn too. All this and you have your IC (Immum Coeli) at 18 Cancer in your Fourth House of home and family. Thank you. Track the second eclipse in September on Friday 16th when we see a Full Moon too. The Sun is at 24 Pisces and Moon at 24 Virgo. This affects you far more than the first one. Let the 15th, 16th, 17th pass without too many big judgement calls or major plans if possible as it does trigger your chart factors close to 24 degrees, as you can see.
Hi Jessica! The coming September eclipse conjuncts my natal venus (within 2 degrees) and squares my natal neptune exactly. How might these transits affect me?
You were born with Neptune at 9 Sagittarius which is more important than your Venus position which is too wide – so what we’re looking at here is a T-Square, going from the Sun in your Sixth House, to the Moon in your Twelfth House, across Neptune in your Ninth House. There is low visibility and distortion there anyway with travel, foreign places and people, the worldwide web, beliefs of all kinds (including religion and astrology) and that other great Ninth House concern, publishing. To add an eclipse increases the haze, so you may want to make up your mind or take sweeping action another time. Allow 24 hours either side of that eclipse. A typical example would be booking a trip to a place which is shortly about to become a delay zone – the transport or airline authorities may know it but you don’t. I’d also be very wary of issues like religion, cults, and so on – all of which are famously associated with Neptune in Sagittarius.

Without seeing your full chart I can’t figure out what else is at 9 degrees, but basically, it will create a T-Square with your True North Node and True South Node and also aspect Pluto in your Seventh House. That’s enough for me to say, allow for a partly or wholly concealed situation August 31, September 1, 2 and wait before you assume too much. There is something you are not seeing, then.

Thank you. You have an Aesculapia-Sun conjunction at 9 Virgo in your Sixth House, which rules your body, your paid work, lifestyle, daily routine and unpaid work. This is unusual. It means you become well known for bringing back work projects, jobs or professional situations from the brink (resurrecting them) and purely in terms of your physical condition, health and wellbeing – you can also make constant comebacks. Eclipses are not exciting at all. They just conceal, rather than reveal. So August 31, September 1, September 2 bear that in mind with all those areas of life I just mentioned and make allowances for the fact that you will not be seeing what is actually there. You may want to let time pass and suspend big judgement calls or sweeping action plans at that time.

Basically you are a Sagittarian who has stunning job opportunities in front of her, right now – do all you can to nail the new position, volunteer role, course, allowance (open your mind to all possibilities) now through August 10th and try to get it in writing before that time. Beyond then a fantastic solution will be on offer yet it will go back and forth until October when you finally find out where you stand. The rest is really for a personal chart. These are big topics.

It also rules your physical condition and body. The eclipse on 1st September 2016 is at 9 Virgo, so just one degree away. In reference to the above areas of your life, allow for blind spots, obscured facts, missing details. Allow 24 hours either side of eclipse day and think about deferring big decisions, actions or judgements about the above.
Hi there I’m sorry to bother but could you have another quick look, my birthdate was incorrect in my chart, when you said my moon was in Virgo I checked as I know it’s in Caprcorn. Hi Jessica, through your website I have learned about eclipses. Aries/ Libra ones really bombardrd me. The last eclipse in Libra 3 degree conjuncted natal pluto 2 degree and sun at 4 degree. Even though it is fading What does it actually mean? I started to stand up against unfairness in relationship. Is that what it meant to be. The September 16th one my moon going to conjunct Fortuna at 24 degree. Is it significant? Thank you for assistance.

my DOB is 20/09/1975. I can say this whole year is very strange for me. I tried launch new activities in different areas of my life but these last six month especially in the area of finding new job. I am starting to be really tired and frustrated. I feel like I am still on the same point without moving things on. In others area of life too – to be a parent, to think about mouving to another city. Sometimes things start to move on and suddenly stopped and nothing happend for months. I really starting to have a doubts about myself. Am I or am I not able to identify situations correctly?

This eclipse, specifically, is about your Minerva at 9 Virgo which may involve your attempt at pregnancy. The Pisces Lunar eclipse is hitting my Fortuna as Sun conjunct Fortuna at 24 Virgo. Since 12/9 my anxiety is at peak and had asthma attacks. The reason for anxiety I sorted it with my husband – my mother in law’s visit. He calmed me which was a surprise.
As you previously adviced I am writing my journal with good thoughts and wishes. I have never used alcohol /drugs or smoked. I regularly have good work outs.

I remember your concern about your mother-in-law and I am glad your husband calmed you. However, you have Apollo in Virgo in the Sixth House, which rules your body and physical condition – so you are actually good at looking after your own wellbeing too. In fact, anxiety is the right place to begin, as there are some tried, tested and trusted ways to manage anxiety which cost nothing and can change your life. If you have not yet managed to find a library book by Dr. Claire Weekes do look for her on YouTube. Asthma is obviously a medical issue but your nervous system can be managed and your Virgo chart signature says you could eventually help others by explaining how you helped yourself. The more you investigate your Virgo side the better, as you will come to see that the tiniest things (a teaspoon of sugar, to quote Mary Poppins) or even just one pill, can affect your entire system. What I can tell you is that you have Neptune transiting your Seventh House of love and you are also having Chiron go through there too. Boundaries, boundaries, boundaries! The eclipse is best avoided for issues like this because it falls across Virgo in the Sixth House of the body and you are asking about your digestion. You need to find out more about how Virgo and the Sixth House operate in your life – typically, the body will ‘create’ circumstances which our mind or soul really want – but we consciously don’t have the courage or certainty to pursue. I will give you an example. The proud mother of the bride who must star at her daughter’s wedding but secretly cannot stand the groom, will mysteriously develop the one thing that is going to stop her, on the big day – a rash all over her face from an allergic reaction to make-up. Always avoid a lunar eclipse (a flakey Full Moon) for decisions. Let the Moon pass out of the sign where it is causing the issues – this is hours away now. If you have the luxury of making big choices any time at all, you may want to make for this pesky Mercury Retrograde cycle to finish as well, from 7th October 2016. Love life choices will be so much easier in October than they have been for months – even years. Business options come up in November. So if you do have the blessing of time and space, use this period to doodle, draw, sketch, make notes and erase them – you can come up with the plan later.

I am sorry you are having a tough week with your partner. His horoscope is being triggered by Chiron at 23 Pisces, Uranus at 23 Aries and of course this pesky eclipse at 24 Pisces and Virgo. He needs tons of time and space. For a start, wait for the Moon to leave Pisces and get out of the eclipse zone. That is hours away now. Be patient with Uranus at 23 Aries as it swings back and forth until January 2018 when it finally clears 24 Aries and it is out of his hair (and yours). Basically your partner has a T-Square and T stands for tension. I am sure a job that lasts just over two weeks won’t bother you. You have a Virgo stellium so your body ‘takes’ the issues that your conscious mind will not allow. The eclipse did not have an impact on you and as you read this it will have passed you by. I am sorry you have Multiple Sclerosis. I have two friends who live with it. You have a stellium in Virgo and the Sixth House and the True North Node is one of the factors, so you have past life experience in dealing with the mind, body and spirit connection. You may, for example, have been a surgeon in another life, or even lived with a medical condition before. Ask yourself what important recent development or plan is now on your agenda, in regard to this. Understand that other people, or large organisations, are having health issues they are concealing, or are keeping secrets that are under lock and key. This has had a passing impact on your house, family, apartment, household, home town or homeland in the last few days. The eclipse is over now. There was one very big blind spot with a lot of denial involved. There was a second mystery, or potential cover-up, which still raises questions. Thank you. Yes, this eclipse will have aspected your Vesta, Nodes, Aesculapia and Fortuna. This eclipse is now over so you need to do some detective work and look at who/what is shady (and you know it) who may have been affecting the money, house, apartment, possessions, land, business or charity. Go back and look again at what is on paper, on your computer or under discussion. You will see the whole story in October once Mercury crosses the same spot in Virgo as that eclipse.

My birthday is September 9th at 11:33 Central Time in US and this year has been an absolutely wild ride, with many highs professionally and academically, but then I also found my spouse (Cancer) has been having an affair, which came to light (on our 10th wedding anniversary no less!) sending my life into a mental and emotional tailspin. You don’t give a birth year, but you are a Sun Virgo with Neptune in her solar Seventh House of marriage at the moment and Pluto in her solar fifth house of children. The eclipse would not have been about either. Your entire issue is those twin transits of Neptune and Pluto. His entire issue is the very recent transit of Saturn through his solar Fifth House of children and Pluto, still transiting his Seventh House of marriage. This eclipse season has been a dozy! I wound up in the hospital on the day of the most recent eclipse, Pisces is my first house. Luckily, I’m ok but it was not what I expected! Wow. Also, my ex-girlfriend and I met up and had an extremely open and emotional conversation that resulted in even more confusion than was already there to begin with. She and I had talked about marriage previously: I wasn’t ready then and she’s not ready now. However, the situation doesn’t seem to be resolved. I wanted to to asked you something about this eclipse and the retrograde in my money zone…I have been pursuing a project to import french clothes brands to Canada for 2 years and it’s been really really difficult, from flaky customers to investing money and having nothing in return. I had “closed the door” on this project and the hope of going back to my home country and started planning on staying in France to continue working on my e-shop. So I finally tell the man who has been helping us with the project (he’s the boss of a brand, a nice guy but very elusive) that it’s over. He comes back RIGHT after the eclipse. Tells me that I should give it one more try proposing a couple of intermediary solutions. Meaning I would have to hop on a plane to Canada in a week and pursue what I had left. I still can’t decide if this is again some sort of illusion, or is this my last chance to get this right…The retrograde is in my money zone. I would still have to put some money in this venture, I don’t know if this is the right thing to do…Thanks so much for any advice.
I don’t know what your time frame is, but if you have the luxury of waiting until past October 7th, 2016 to talk to this man in Canada, you may prefer to do it then. We are coming out of a chain of eclipses and Mercury Retrograde when everyone is a) blind b) concealing the truth or c) in conscious denial! This is not just about you, it is about the whole world and its trade/business. Can you possibly keep talking and doing your homework?
