The Astrologer’s Diary: 15-21 July 2019

The Full Moon Lunar Eclipse takes place on Tuesday 16th July with the Sun at 24 Cancer opposite the Moon at 24 Capricorn. It occurs at 9.38 pm UT (Universal Time) so 10.38 pm in London. An eclipse is always a cover-up. It conceals, it never reveals. It will be months (or even years) before we look back at July 2019 and realise just how much we did not know - or could not see - at the time. Specifically, this will be about Cancer-ruled matters like property, families, land, homes and heritage. It will also be about Capricorn-ruled matters like Prime Ministers, Presidents, the police and the authorities. Two strong examples of cover-ups this week will be Brexit and the seizure of children at the American border. It may not be until 2020 that we know…how much we were never told. As a good basic rule, do not act or judge too decisively or dramatically on an eclipse. The American astrologer Debbie Kempton-Smith used to advise waiting a day either side, and I concur. Let Monday 15th, Tuesday 16th, Wednesday 17th July pass you by. Why? Because it’s like driving with the headlights off. An eclipse is neither negative nor positive, it just does what you would expect. It blots out what would normally be visible. If you are in London you are welcome to attend a talk (partly about eclipses), a Stonehenge pizza party and the launch of The Avebury and Stonehenge Astrology Podcast on Monday 15th July - from 7.00 pm to 8.30 pm at The Astrological Lodge, just near Baker Street. Special guests include my Sun Sign School colleagues, Natalie Delahaye, Debbie Frank and Penny Thornton, all of whom have served as royal astrologers, who also appear on the podcast. Details at the website.

Aries: 15-21 July 2019

Aries, it has never been this difficult to hang onto success, your social rank, your status and your place within your chosen profession, business, field or industry.  You are in a cycle not possible in over 240 years and you are required to summon up all the stamina and fortitude you can find, at the moment. This is really not your style. Capricorn people slog away and hang on. You tend to rush and push. You go up front, respond well to the need for heat and speed - and are not really made for the slow, grinding climb to the top, or the task of hanging on. Nevertheless, you have learned a lot, even in the last year or so, and now have some decisions to make. Try to make them well away from Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday as the eclipse will have the whole town or city flying blind.

Towards the end of the week, though, you need to look at what you are working with, in terms of your career, unpaid work, university or college degree, and social position. You have been in such a demanding cycle in 2018 that you have been lacking the time and space to sit on your heels and take a good, long look at what is actually going on. This Saturn cycle tends to produce unavoidable, inevitable tests and trials. The biggest test is of your patience, because this gets easier as it goes on, and stops for good at Christmas 2020 - but until then you have to do the hard yards, as they say in Australian sport. Just knowing that 2021 begins a completely new era in your career, or with your unpaid work, or academia - should keep you going. You are over the heaviest part of the journey. Now, you have to keep going, knowing that there is an end point. In fact, from 2021 you will look back at 2008-2020 and shake your head at what you have achieved.

Pluto suggests that you need to become ‘the boss of you’ even though you may have quite another boss. Steely willpower, tremendous self-control and iron self-discipline are the tools you need. This is particularly true if you feel that your company, employer, industry (and so on) are dominating or overpowering. Push back. That’s another Australian sporting phrase. Push back, Aries, and run your own self and your own life. Do it your way, even if you temporarily have to deal with others trying to rule the world (and you). I might add that you have been here before, very likely, in a karmic episode from 2000-2001 when the South Node was last in Capricorn. Think about it.

Aries, the other patterns in your horoscope concern your house, family, homeland, hometown, apartment, household and related matters, like property investment, residency or patriotism. Again, I would urge caution near the eclipse on Tuesday. Why fly blind? You also have Mercury Retrograde here, so please don’t invest too much in the discussions, news or planning now. As you will see by August 15th it is very likely to alter shape, be held up or even come to nothing. A typical example would be a mortgage application that is scrapped in 2-3 weeks because you get a better offer. These things happen. Another example would be a family reunion that is affected by airline strikes.

Aries, the family or home front is best organised from the second half of August, when you will know what is going on at last, after a period when computers, telephones, cars, airlines, trains, buses, the mail - and above all the internet - simply did not deliver as usual. From that point, you can see your way to Christmas, or just after, when we have a Full Moon that will bring one of those epic decisions about the household, family, apartment or house that make 2020 so different for you.

Taurus

Taurus: 15-21 July 2019

Taurus, a great deal of what is happening this week is about karma involving foreign people and places, regional differences (in accent or landscape), books and publishing, the worldwide web, education and academia. By karma, I mean the revolving wheel of words, actions, deeds and thoughts from the years 2000-2001 which now spins around. It catches you in both 2019 and 2020, when everything past will come up again, perhaps in disguised form, for closure. We may even be going back to the very early 1980’s here, depending on your age. And then back to the 1960’s and 1940s, again, depending on your age. I will leave the matter of past lives with you but it should be mentioned as there is a deep belief among Indian astrologers, working with the Moon’s Nodes (Rahu and Ketu) that ‘what goes around comes around’ from lifetimes before.

This focus on ‘travel and travel in the mind’ as they say, is not going to disappear quickly. In fact, as late as December 2020, after a major decision in January next year, you will still be looking long and hard at the matter of your being a world citizen, quite literally dealing with the worldwide web. We may be going into issues like religion or multiculturalism here, or matters of belief, philosophy or knowledge. I don’t really think with Saturn, Pluto and the South Node in this area of your chart, together with a difficult Full Moon, that it’s time to let up on your efforts.

Far from it, you have to give yourself a sustained long run here, Taurus, and as an earth sign who is grounded in time and place, you work best with practicalities. So, let’s say - Christmas 2020 and no more. The issue disappears or you no longer care. Perhaps you know for a fact that November, December 2020 are already key months, for quite another reason! In which case, Taurus, the astrology supports that. This is when we at last see Saturn gone from Capricorn, the sign which rules your ‘travel and travel in the mind’ in all its forms.

Language differences, the gaps in education, understand and comprehension - quite genuinely, culture - are aspects of dealing with the internet, moving from one location to another, or coping with globalisation - which weigh heavily. One of the reasons for this is that you are also dealing with the North Node in Cancer, in your zone of speech, multimedia, email, telephones, fax machines, microphones, writing, the mail and the rest. So, communication is a concern. Communication at its core involves being heard, read and understood effectively, but also hearing, reading and understanding. Some fundamental issues like deafness, memory, literacy, eyesight and so on may be a concern for some Sun Taurus people in 2019.

Whatever the story - and it may just be Facebook, the face of which is a fellow Taurus - you must now come face-to-face with the realities. Saturn, Pluto and both Nodes are pretty decisive. They put you between a rock and a hard place this week. Yet, it is also not the time to decide. Not finally. You are dealing with Mercury Retrograde and all the notorious missed connections, delays, computer challenges and the rest - and you also have an eclipse which makes the road ahead rather hard to see on Tuesday.

So, leave this be if you can. Acknowledge all you are feeling, because surely at some point a particular person, project, place or organisation must be jettisoned or minimised in your life. Yet, the time to swing into action is after August 15th at the very least, when Mercury will be out of shadow.

gemini

Gemini: 15-21 July 2019

Deep down, below all this talk of dollars, pounds or euros (or property, charity, business) there is a much more important question about your values. Who and what is precious to you, to the point of being priceless? What you are content to sell your soul for, and what you absolutely refuse to put a price tag on. Gemini, we now come to the question of what is lucrative, versus what is filthy lucre. The planet Venus, which rules the financial truths of marriage and business partnership, now passes through the Second House of your horoscope, which is where your value system is weighed and measured. In fact, Venus rules so much more than partnership (though if you read half the internet, you’d have trouble seeing it!) She is an ancient Roman symbol of female insecurity, envy, passionate attachment (mothers and sons), resentment (mothers-in-law and daughters-in-law), vanity, seduction (wife and lover) and also commitment (wife and husband). So, you see, at heart this week is about the complicated nature of human relationships and the many-faceted sides of woman - or likely, just one woman.

Very close to Wednesday, when Venus opposes Saturn, you will find yourself dealing with quite a few stories from the past, at the same time. One matter dates back, as a general theme, to the years 2000-2001. This in turn is linked, by theme, to the very early 1980’s. We then might also look back about 29 years to the last time Saturn in Capricorn was opposed by Venus in Saturn. So, you see, this current story about the house, shares, business, charity, company, bank, apartment, economy, investments and so on, has a long shelf life. You’ve been here before. For some Gemini people this is literal. It is the old debt or the old credit note, come back again. A typical example would be inheriting a trust fund in the year 2001 and now having to deal with a family member also seeking parental funding.

Gemini, you will have your own story about what is going on, though I suspect it involves a close relative, the family tree, a house, apartment or other residence - if you are a Premium Member and know your personal birth chart shows factors in Cancer. This is very likely as the two signs are close by and so many Gemini people will also have a Cancer zodiac sign signature in their own astrological chart.

No matter how your horoscope looks, do not make up your mind, or swing into action, on Tuesday. I would allow Monday and Wednesday as well, because it takes the world so long to catch up with itself. An eclipse is a blind spot or cover-up. It conceals it never reveals. You simply will not ‘get’ what is going on now for months and may never know the deeper truths at all. Your ruler Mercury is also retrograde. This means the conversation will go backwards and forwards for weeks. The story will change once or twice. There may be issues with computers, the mail or telephones, transport or travel. You won’t know the eventual outcome of the numbers, in particular, until at least August 15th when Mercury is out of shadow.

Your Second House is about your values. Your deepest sense of what is valuable to you, be you capitalist, socialist, communist, environmentalist, shopaholic, hoarder, and so on. The way you fill in your tax return and whom you vote for, as they spend your taxes. You have your bottom line! Opposite, also under heavy transit this week, we find your Eighth House. This is classically about marriage and mortgage. Legacy and inheritance. Sex and money, above all, and particularly that potent combination of ‘Until death do us part’ and ‘With this ring I thee wed.’

That Full Moon, also an eclipse, has been a long time coming, as has karma from 2000-2001, the early 1980’s and for some of you, about three decades ago - as we’ve seen. This notion of karma comes from the North Node and South Node, as the dragon of time eats its tail. What goes around, comes around. This is the Universe doing the accounts, not you, and to some extent you have to submit to the process. The end of this year, when Jupiter changes signs, also to your Eighth House, will present you with sweeping solutions, vast answers to big questions and by 2020 an outcome which satisfies. From May next year, the karma is also over. For now, you must deal. Yet, Gemini, don’t deal at all, if you follow your stars. Mercury Retrograde is notorious for a paper trail of complication and can result in spectacularly empty promises or hollow outcomes. The eclipse? Well, I’ve said enough about that for all you Premium Members in the past!

cancer

Cancer: 15-21 July 2019

Your ruler the Moon is full on Tuesday in Capricorn, your opposite sign, and this is also an eclipse. History proves that eclipses take place when there is always a mystery, cover-up, blind spot or crucial piece of missing information. To give you the most famous example of the 20th century, we could talk about the wedding of Diana, Princess of Wales and Prince Charles. Nobody knew about Camilla in the congregation, and her true importance to the couple. It’s that kind of whopping gap in the jigsaw that makes for a wholly misleading picture and this one is very much about your former, current or potential partner. Perhaps - your enemy, rival or opponent. The other person on the opposite end of the scales, or the face on the other end of the tightrope or seesaw.

For this reason Cancer please do not judge or act this week. Specifically, on Tuesday, but you could allow Monday and Wednesday, as time zone differences around the world mean this period of ignorance extends from my readers in Auckland to those in Los Angeles in all directions, and these things have a domino effect. I know that you feel push has come to shove, with this person, as a Full Moon can feel like the biggest stretch of all time. Yet, in astrological terms, as much as you’d like to act, to get things back to normal - or back to ‘better’ - this is not the week to do that. Quite apart from the fact that the eclipse leaves you in a state of lowered visibility or knowledge, you also have Mercury Retrograde and July on the whole is far too much like hard work, if you are seeking some kind of outcome or decision. At the very least, wait until Mercury has finished his long cycle by August 15th to begin any kind of road to a final choice.

It looks as if December 2019 (Christmas) will answer most of your concerns, as Jupiter changes signs then and for the first time in 12 years, when it comes this man (or woman) you have proper answers. Of course, he or she may be a recent arrival in your life, no matter if this is a duet, or a duel. Yet, the cycle is much older, and it will do its work. In the year 2020, Cancer, you will see complex, deeply satisfying and profoundly useful results. For now, feel what you feel - for as long as you wish to allow the emotions to register. You are an emotional water sign and decide matters of marriage, separation, divorce, dating, professional partnership, lawsuits, battles, feuds and disputes with your heart. Not your head. You can be irrational at times, but you would rather be true to what you feel, than as logical as a robot, with nothing to content yourself as an answer.

We have some Cancer zodiac sign weather this week too. Thus, we might say that the other person is holding up a mirror which reflects your image, persona, personal appearance, title, brand, reputation and so on. Very commonly this will be your husband (the Mr. in the equation) reflecting you as Mrs. So-and-So. Or we might say you are defined by your professional partner. You are the first name in a brand with an ampersand in the middle, like good old Marks & Spencer in London…

Mercury is retrograde in Cancer which is yet another reason to spin your wheels, in this week of spinning wheels. Nothing can really emerge yet in any solid form. Yet, once you are heading towards Christmas, and particularly January 2020, when we see an historic line-up in Capricorn, you will know exactly what to say, what to do, why you are doing it, and when to do it. Part of the reason for that will be this week’s murky weather. If you have the Sun in Cancer then your Sun is in the Fourth House of your chart using the Natural House System, and you are identified in a very public way with your family, but also your household, your apartment, house, hometown and homeland. This week’s rare combination of eclipse and Mercury Retrograde suggests that the other person in this duet or duel situation can’t really be considered without immediate reference to that.

leo

Leo: 15-21 July 2019

The Twelfth House of your horoscope describes the relationship you have with your own soul or spirit. This week may be about your religious faith, or your view of astrology. The Twelfth House is intensely personal. Your inner demons or your God. Heaven (or whatever you assume) is up there.  We associate it with the work of psychics or psychologists, priests or pastors. In the old astrology books, you will still see it associated with psychiatric wards or solitary confinement cells in prisons. The Twelfth House is more accurately about your deepest encounter with yourself and that usually happens when you write in a journal, look in the mirror, talk to a therapist, speak in the confessional box or lie in bed staring at the ceiling. So really, it has nothing to do with the pre-21st century definitions you may see bandied about on the internet in various horoscopes this week. I just wanted to reassure you. It’s about your inner life and inner self.  Your very soul! So, Leo, this is a week for soul-searching, but hopefully without making your mind up just yet. Because you won’t know. Not with an eclipse and Mercury Retrograde. It will take you some months to realise what might have been taking place in July 2019, so no point in making up your mind just yet. But…do give yourself hours and hours of soul-searching space and time alone, to try. You may very well be alone for this, as destiny may put you there. Time out to be out of it all, to peer further inside, but also ‘up there’ to your God/Goddess/Universe/Great Spirit/All That Is.

Leo, this week is also about your Sixth House, which rules your duty and service to others, your daily workload, your lifestyle, your mental health and also your physical wellbeing and fitness. Here, we find the Full Moon, Saturn, Pluto and the South Node. Here, we are talking about the tiny details of your everyday existence, from the time you wake up, to the quality of your sleep. The food in your refrigerator; the medication in your bathroom; your toothbrush. Beyond that, Leo, we have your job to consider. This may be paid work, unpaid efforts or the ‘job’ of study.

You can congratulate yourself on being over the halfway mark of the most demanding and challenging cycle in over 240 years. It began in 2008 and has intensified and deepened over the last 12 months. Please do avoid the Full Moon Eclipse and the day either side on Tuesday 16th July. You have such low visibility then. As the week goes on, you need to pace yourself. Some things have to be taken on board until December 2020. Yes, that far away. Saturn is about patience, persistence, stamina and staying power. Much as you’d love a magic wand and fast/easy solutions, they are not here. What does work rather well is sheer self-control and willpower. In fact, taking the reins and running your own show is the only way to go, either with your workload or your health.

There is also something very new in the mix. Beyond the endless questions about working hard for others, doing your duty, fulfilling your contract - there are exciting, revolutionary new career trends around you. This has been the case since May 2018. You are now moving firmly through the Uranus in Taurus transit in your Tenth House of success, ambition, achievement, High Society, promotion, headhunting, awards and number one hits.

This essentially means the past is no longer relevant. You cannot go back or look back. You really have to dive straight into this new world, which produces choices out of the blue. This is in direct contrast to what you are experiencing elsewhere with work, study or unpaid work. Here, you are being shown a revolution which would lead to your own freedom and independence. Leo, in 2019 you will find freedom from (a person, position or situation) or freedom through (a project, role, organisation or individual). You know you’re doing it right if you feel like you’re making it up as you go along. There is no handbook. You invent it.

virgo

Virgo: 15-21 July 2019

You obviously have to do something pretty drastic about the sexual relationship which may involve parenthood later; the pregnancy; the baby; the children; the teenagers; the younger generation. You appear to have had one tiresome obstacle after another recently, but more than that, the universe is trying to tell you something. That ‘something’ is really about knowing what is unavoidable and inevitable (and must be shouldered, until December 2020) but also about what/who is frankly not essential. It is amazing how we gather particular burdens and weights on the road, and then forget to examine them to see what can be considered as ballast.

Virgo, before you go the full ‘Spark Joy’ (to quote Marie Kondo’s famous book and television series about clearing space) you need to remember this is eclipse week. Please hold off. Make mental notes but don’t act. An eclipse conceals it never reveals. It is a cover-up and blind spot. Nobody knows where this thing leads! You have one in the sign of Capricorn, in the Fifth House of your horoscope, which rules the world of babies, children and younger people. It is usually about the family, but it can also be about paid or unpaid efforts involving, say, people in their teens or twenties (if you are old enough to be their parents). The eclipse is exact Tuesday but allow Monday-Wednesday for tunnel vision. Why would you take a path when it’s not properly lit?

Your ruler Mercury is also retrograde, which is never particularly useful. Yet, by Christmas (likely a family gathering) or certainly January 2020 (new year, new start) you’ll be on top of a substantial decision. This may be adopting a second child - perhaps the opposite gender to the child who is with you now. It may be medical treatment for your godson. A crucial choice about the education of your grandchild or niece. The choice of single parenthood or sole parent pregnancy. You will have your own story. But this is a week for registering emotions, tossing the conversations around, but never acting or judging.

The other major story this week involves your group of friends and acquaintances. There may actually be a formal network or circle involved here, like the R.A.F. or Mumsnet. You have one old friendship here too, which needs careful handling. The whole rolling plan or conversation is subject to change, delay or scrapping within days, perhaps weeks, so have Plan B and C and get everything in writing. You also need to be aware that there is more to this week, and this month, than just the usual tiresome Mercury Retrograde palaver. You recently experienced an eclipse in this chart zone, so July began with a complete state of ignorance, regarding one friendship or group. Fortunately, astrology can pass on that cautionary note: don’t act or judge when you can’t see and don’t know. Eclipses are neither negative nor positive, by the way. They are what they suggest: what is normally visible is partly or wholly obscured from view. This is why, the middle week of July 2019 is a time to ponder, to reflect, to ask questions of yourself and others, perhaps, but not to dramatically act or judge. There is karma here, too, going back to the years 2000-2001 or the early 1980’s. We may also be talking past lives here, Virgo, so stretching back through time, past the 1960’s, the 1940’s and the 1920’s. Sometimes dreams reveal that past life.

libra

Libra: 15-21 July 2019

There are ways to deal with this heavy Capricorn weather, Libra, which is making the house, the family, the apartment, the property investment, your tenant, roommate/flatmate, landlady or landlord, such hard work. Beyond that, we may be talking about your town or country and your identification with your heritage, family tree, nationality, culture, class and background. Your roots.

Heavy Capricorn weather is likely to force a decision out of you sooner or later, but skip Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday please as the whole world is flying blind. You don’t make fork-in-the-road choices on an eclipse. Given the peak Capricorn climate change in January 2020, you’d have to assume that the New Year, next year, will actually time the ultimate choice, no matter if you are reshuffling the household or thinking about long overdue renovations. More dramatically, a great many Libra people will use Christmas 2019 to have ‘the talk’ and make some quite momentous choices about individual relatives, or specific issues about a home, within weeks.

Nothing comes from nothing in astrology and that situation is being set up now. Rather than go galloping into Christmas 2019 and New Year 2020, though, let’s start with the basics. You need a plan. You need a strategy. You need a long conversation with yourself about what you can’t avoid, and what you can improve. In all honesty, you’re not going to wriggle away with too many short cuts or easy answers. You’re in this until December 2020.

Ask yourself who/what is a burden that can be lopped, like the heavy dead weight of a tree branch dragging the entire garden down. If you can lose it, then lose it. Yet, you have to live with what is part of the overall structure or story, too, and understand that it is your karma to accept what you cannot actually change. Some things go back too far (likely to 2000-2001) or have longer and older roots than that, all the way back to the early 1980’s.

What works really well, in addition, is Pluto Rules. Pluto is a symbol of tremendous power, achieved through great willpower. By controlling yourself, utterly, you retain control. You can never have total control with your home, family, household, hometown or homeland on this cycle (which ends in 2023) but you can share the controls.

Libra, the other towering issue this week is your status, success, ambition, social position and rank, chosen field, industry or business. Please do not assume anything is fixed, final or firm until you arrive at August 15th, when at last you can say one particular story is concluded. Until then, get it in writing and read the fine print. Have Plan B and Plan C, because Mercury Retrograde in Cancer is with us. Again, that eclipse early in the week suggests poor visibility and awareness, so if you can leave some choices until later, so much the better. In the long view of your chart, the success/status question (how to get it, how to hang onto it) is far less crucial than your own family or home, but the two matters are connected, and this is a good week to chew on that. In fact, given your horoscope, the more chewing the cud, the better. Don’t try to moo too much or move too much.

scorpio

Scorpio: 15-21 July 2019

You have been caught out before by the wonderful world of the internet (I am writing that with heavy irony), the media, television, radio, newspapers or magazines. Perhaps more than once, as your ruling planet Pluto has been in your house of words, ideas, communication, connections and images since 2008. Thus, you have had over a decade of experience with the whole business of being heard, read and understood (or not) in the age of soundbites and American corporate domination of ‘all that is’ in terms of your message and how to deliver it!

We associate Pluto with organisations and people who want total control, Scorpio, and you have no doubt had a gut full of that, when it comes to saying your piece, or putting ideas into words. This week begins the long turning of the tide, but it may not be until Jupiter changes signs at the end of this year, that you finally begin to see how much progress might be made in the year 2020. From the year 2023 you no longer care, or the issues have vanished. For now (especially this week) you need to take your time and tiptoe through the tulips like Tiny Tim.

We have an eclipse, but also Mercury Retrograde, in the Third House and Ninth House of your chart, which are about foreign people and places, cultural and (often) religious differences, the worldwide web, multimedia, commuting and travel, publishing and education in all its forms. You could hope for something more straightforward, but at the same time, sitting on your hands rather than judging or acting is sensible. It gives you time to think, and perhaps to think twice. That is absolutely required now if you are going to begin to right some wrongs next year.

In fact, going full steam ahead with any plan to correct an issue, or force an issue, is not the best idea when you are flying blind. That is what an eclipse does, and in the first half of the week you may be in a state of total ignorance about matters affecting your course, plan, projects, ideas, microphone, telephone or computer - maybe your commute or travel agenda too. Once we add the usual delays, reversals or schedule changes of Mercury Retrograde to this mixture, you can see why it’s a good time to contemplate but not the best time to roll up your sleeves and act.

Nevertheless, out of all this, Scorpio, will come a major turning point next year, visible at Christmas, with deeper changes to come in January 2020. What used to be the simple business of communicating, or getting from A to B, has become so deeply complicated in the last year or two. Yet, there are answers, but they have to well up from a place of heavier thought and some overdue soul-searching and that is what this week is about for you.

sagittarius

Sagittarius: 15-21 July 2019

Sagittarius, if you are involved with another Sagittarius or a Gemini on a financial, property, charity or business level then you two are really in quite an historic phase of your lives together.

No matter which other sign/s are implicated in this matter regarding the money, house, apartment, shares, company, valuable possessions or good cause - you have your work cut out for you between now and 2020. This week may feel like the moment you should seize, to pursue some kind of solution or final judgement call, but actually, your stars are not aligned as they should be, to coin a phrase.

Actually it is the planets. Mercury appears to be moving backwards not forwards, and as the messenger planet, he should be in better shape than this. What you are seeing here, as July runs into August, is the stage being set for a reversal, waiting game or reschedule. Depending on your personal chart, this may be about property or family. You have also had an eclipse at one side of your financial chart and are due for another early in the week. Eclipses conceal, they never reveal. They block your line of vision.

In this case, as ignorance is not necessarily bliss, and your communication or incoming information flow, negotiation, certain knowledge or paper trail is also off-balance - think carefully. This may look as if it has to take you somewhere, sooner rather than later, and the situation is undeniably heavy and hard work. However, astrology is about timing. This is not the time. At Christmas, it will be. Not now. And yes, if you think January 2020 is some kind of deadline, you are quite right. The rare line-up of Ceres, the dealmaker and compromise Queen, that month, suggests that long-term you will have to divide and share, financially. It will be a whole new world for you, he, she or they by that stage. For now, feel all the feelings, make all the notes, figure out a life budget (what can money never purchase that you must still price?) and proceed slowly and carefully.

capricorn

Capricorn: 15-21 July 2019

You have recently experienced an eclipse in your opposite sign of Cancer, and here comes another eclipse moment, as the Sun in Cancer stands opposite the Full Moon in Capricorn, your own zodiac sign. This year you are also living with the North Node in Cancer, and as this is a symbol of karma, the situation with your opposite number in life, your opponent or your other half, would seem to be rather hard to escape, just as fate is hard to escape. This may take you back to familiar themes from the year 2000, 2001 or even as far back as 1981.

The Seventh House of your chart, ruled by Cancer, describes your former, current or potential partner - in love or work. It also describes any enemy, rival or opponent - again in love or work. It is about two people on opposite ends of the scales. This may be your wife, or your greatest foe. It may be the woman you are in love with, who belongs to someone else - and that particular ‘someone else’ as well. You get the picture. It takes two to tango, but it also takes two to fight a duel or form a duet.

The bigger picture is really about you, you, you. How are you are seen and regarded by the outside world. How you are presented, profiled and packaged. It is too soon to act or judge, Capricorn, and you would be doing so blindly, and also without the tremendous benefits of Jupiter entering your sign near Christmas. Wait. You are patient enough if you are true to your sign and know how to cautiously navigate your way sideways and up, taking long breaks if you have to. This approach suits the whole business of your image rather better than plunging in this week.

The situation with the other person, or the other side, may not be fully understood or known until next year. There is karma to sort out here, as I’ve mentioned, but this rather odd situation in July, when nothing is firm, fixed, final or finished for weeks, is just delaying matters. Mercury Retrograde in Cancer is not really your friend, and rather than trying to lock things in, nail them down or get them signed, sealed and delivered, you may prefer to treat July and the first half of August as one rehearsal after another, for what will ultimately be the agreement, signature or understanding. Later on, as we go into the intense Capricorn weather of December 2019 and January 2020, you will realise why July was never the time to assume you were across all the facts or in the ideal position to negotiate!

aquarius

Aquarius: 15-21 July 2019

Aquarius, the deeper, more hidden issue this week is about your conscience. Your soul. Your spirit. Your God. The Twelfth House of your horoscope describes all that lies beneath and within. As you have an intense line-up of Saturn, Pluto, the South Node and also a Full Moon (on an eclipse) here, you need to be alone now. It won’t make it a great deal easier, but it will give you the space and time you need to single out what matters, and why it matters. There may be a confidante, counsellor or similar - a confessor figure - in the mix. Maybe you just need to write in a journal or talk to a mirror. Tremendous Twelfth House transits like this only occur once in your lifetime, and you are slowly building up to major decisions about your inner life, at Christmas and in January 2020. That is the turning point you need and next year will be a great deal simpler than this year, or even 2018. To get there from here, though, you have to examine what is essentially invisible, and the stuff of the soul and spirit, of ‘heaven up here’ and even your inner demons is always invisible. This means peace and quiet, if not actual silence, is required. This is not the week to dabble in the occult, by the way, if you are so inclined. You are in an unseen world anyway, quite without the blind spot of an eclipse. You won’t essentially know what you are doing and as dabbling with unseen and unknown forces is a risk at the best of times, to do so on a Full Moon and an eclipse is a real concern. The Twelfth House of the chart is associated with the lower astral, as well as with God, and that has been the case since it was first described in Latin, centuries ago, as the house of ‘Daimon.’

Aquarius along with this emphasis on the invisible world, your inner life and your very soul - and the slow, yet steady drive towards a life-changing decision at Christmas time - we need to talk about your lifestyle. Your workload, daily routine, schedule, fitness for the job (or a voluntary position), mental health and physical health, ability to cope with student life, housework and the rest - is now in flux.

Mercury Retrograde suggests that any discussion, paper trail or negotiations could take you backwards and forwards until the middle of August. Knowing that, why push for some kind of action plan or judgement call this week? If you absolutely have to go ahead, have it in writing and have Plan B and C. There is very likely to be rescheduling or a change of mind at the very least, and at its most extreme, depending on your birth chart, you could end up with a reversal or a scrapped plan. That is what astrology and history tell us.

pisces

Pisces: 15-21 July 2019

Into the Fifth House of your chart this week goes the Sun, chased by the Moon at the other end. The Fifth House of your horoscope describes pregnancies that never came to term, as well as existing daughters and sons. We also associate it with nephews and nieces. With children’s interests and needs (UNICEF for example or school life). Sexual relationships that could result in parenthood, if things became serious, are also associated with the Fifth House. The younger generations who take up your time and energy - Millennials or people in their twenties, depending on your age (small children, if you are only in your twenties yourself) are also a concern of the Fifth House. Now, more than ever, no matter what leaps out at you from that list - you need to tread water.

As a Pisces, ruled by the fishes, and Neptune - I am sure you can relate. Treading water is doing nothing and waiting for the next logical move. That comes, for you, over the next few weeks, as you realise what you thought you absolutely knew - you did not. You may also find that what was written in stone (an adoption agreement, for example) was written in jelly. Taking a dress-rehearsal or first-draft approach to what is under discussion regarding parenthood potential sexual relationships; children; teenagers; young adults - is wise. There may also be some karma to work through here, regarding the years 2000-2001, or perhaps the very early 1980’s. What was set in motion then has an answering call in 2019, 2020.

Pisces, the other concern in your chart this week is your circle of friends, your social media, and the more formal groups which affect your life, like children’s charities. Again, try to avoid judging or acting too dramatically, especially near Tuesday (eclipse time). Just taking a deep breath and taking stock is wise. You are going through a really demanding time, psychologically, emotionally or intellectually. Just being part of a group or friendship, particularly on social media, can be a huge ask. The golden rule with Saturn is to wait - to be patient - pace yourself until December 2020. The golden rule with Pluto is to use your willpower to empower yourself.
