Your future career, unpaid work or study is now very much the order of the day. Expect lots of emails and talk, as Mercury moves into Aquarius. Take rest breaks, when you can, and learn to settle on who and what really matters, before you move on again. Mercury brings a butterfly effect with it, but at this time, you will be the butterfly. This can make you scatty and unfocussed. There is so much to think about, both huge opportunities and tough realities. Taurus, try to finalise by January 15th, 2021, if you can.

Delays, rescheduling or cancellations affect your travel, foreign, regional, publishing, academic or internet plans from around January 16th, 2021. Why? Mercury Retrograde. Three times a year, for about three weeks, Mercury appears to move backwards. It’s retrograde then, and everything it rules, from communication, to business – and travel – goes backwards too. Issues are picked up, then put down. People change their minds. They’re too late – or much too early – and sometimes they don’t turn up at all. The cycle runs until March 13th, 2021. You are ruled by Mercury, so I am giving you advance notice. Have Plan B and C, get it in writing; read the fine print.

Try to finalise important financial, property, business, sales, purchase or charity moves by January 16th, 2021, as Mercury Retrograde is here again. You know the story. Purchases are taken back. Financial connections are made, then lost. Commonly, the business or shopping atmosphere at this time is busy and lively, but also shambolic. Possessions are lost or stolen. Prices are not fixed. Electronic goods frequently do not work – and there are no guarantees for anything. The cycle ends on March 13th, 2021, and Plan B, C and D will be really useful.

Some of the Mercury information flow is worth relying on, and some of it will be absolute rubbish. Astrologers advise against signing anything important at this time because what appears to be gospel truth, or a done deal, could turn out to be anything but. It is wise to avoid negotiations during Mercury retrograde cycles unless you treat it as a rehearsal or beta test. The cycle ends March 13th, 2021.

Do prepare for the world of babies, children, teenagers or Millennials to go backwards and forwards from around January 16th until March 13th, 2021, as Mercury Retrograde approaches, Libra. Now – because you may change your mind later or find you could have swung a better deal somewhere else – schools, nannies or babysitters are particularly liable to rescheduling. If you can ask for time to think and ponder now, it’s probably a good idea, especially if the youthful concern is connected to work or charity. Once this cycle is over, you will be in a better position to make sense of what has been ‘decided’ or under so much discussion. Great for a rehearsal.

You may think that your image, reputation, profile or appearance is just a matter for yourself. With Venus in Capricorn, though, it’s a game for two. It’s challenging. Nevertheless, you must now find some common ground, and locate the central axis of your relationship or association as it affects how you are seen, so much. Driving forward from that axis is what this cycle is all about. To quote from my new book, The Secret Language of the Stars – “Venus wants us to balance each other out now, and use as much tact, sensitivity, care, tolerance and good timing as possible, in order to truly co-operate.”

Mars is now in Taurus, in your zone of family, household, apartment, house, town and country. Mars, the God of War in mythology. If he appears to be speaking to you now (or through you) then think extremely carefully about the consequences of your actions with a relative, flatmate, the council, your landlady and so on. The wars in your life may be minor or major – trivial annoyances with neighbours, unimportant arguments with a flatmate/roommate, small disagreements with co-habiting partners – or grand-scale clashes with greedy property developers or the politicians who owe them. The areas of life where you will feel most shaken and stirred will be those which Mars is triggering at the time. Be extremely careful with what/who you unleash. Slow down and cool down. Be highly strategic, Aquarius.
