The Total Solar Eclipse is on April 8th and 9th and covers America, Mexico and Canada. This is an Aries Eclipse, and we also have Mercury Retrograde in Aries, so you need to know about it. Have you caught up with this update here?
This blackout and blind spot is right over Buffalo, New York on Monday April 8th at 2:04 pm. Sydney, Melbourne and Hobart are 15 hours ahead so it will be Tuesday, April 9th. We also have to allow for sleep cycles. If you live in Pago Pago on Baker Island, then the New York eclipse near 2:00 pm happens when you are in bed at 6:00 am, same day so the night of the 7th may be an issue. The rule? An eclipse blacks out, blinds, conceals.
Use your commonsense April 7th, 8th, 9th and don’t take a fork in the road. Watch out for fake shootings/bombings which are an inside job. Watch out for privacy grabs on your identity online. This is a dodgy month, as is May.
Image, Profile, Identity, Reputation, Photograph, YouTube Clip, Title and appearance in general is the focus in April.
The dates to watch here are the eclipse on April 8th, 9th which is a cover-up and blind spot for you. You won’t see (what you were not being shown) until near May 5th and 26th. You also have rescheduling, cancellation or standstills, until the 14th of May.
The potential for identity theft or a bad print job on your business card (for example) is high. No need to be paranoid, just use your common sense and do not wade into anything on the 7th, 8th, 9th (I have to cover people in Pago Pago).
Commonly, you’ll concentrate on your hair, face, body, clothes, image, appearance, reputation and public face at this time. A cosmetic surgeon? A PR consultant? It all depends on what you want to do with your outer packaging. Maybe they’re about to put your CV together. Twitter, Substack and the rest may announce big changes which affect your online name and face. Perhaps you have been using a picture of a grey skittle and a number all these years.
Here’s the other outcome of this cycle: a personal or professional relationship comes into focus, which has a great deal to say about your reputation. This relationship defines how you are seen – how the world talks about you, or pictures you, or ‘boxes’ you. We all have labels stuck on us.
April will influence how things are, in the image or reputation stakes, for some months or years to come. So avoid the eclipse. Have Plan B and C until May 14th.
If you marry now, for example, your husband or wife will be crucial in determining how you are rated and reviewed. You’re the book that gets judged by its cover this month!
If you go into this cycle with a new hairdresser, make-up artist, trainer, cosmetic surgeon – anything! – then you’ll know this person is part of the eclipse and Mercury Retrograde.
So you’ll be getting your Botox done, or your hair coloured, or your professional image groomed and maintained on dubious astrological weather. If you have anything at 19 Aries then be careful as the eclipse passes 19 Aries, so does Mercury Retrograde, then in May Mars also goes to 19 Aries.

April is about God, your rejection of God, counselling, Tarot, therapy, mediumship, Buddhism, psychiatrists, psychologists, dreams, self-help and your inner world. Skip April 7th-9th for decisions and judgements. It’s a total eclipse. Allow for Plan B, C and D until May 14th.
You may sign up for a Pentecostal church job but find it is cancelled by June, for example. Or you book a Tarot reading and it is rescheduled twice.
You will now find yourself in a situation which is vital to a confidential psychic plan, or a secret self-help agenda you have. The story with God, or your rejection of God, may just hit a phase where everything suddenly has to become hush-hush. A hypnotist for private after-hours sessions is one example of what could go wrong. Another example? A new drug for depression or anxiety.
Life is often much less dramatic than this, of course! But you get the picture. As this cycle begins, you’ll find your attention is increasingly being drawn to goals that are firmly under wraps, or behind the scenes. In order to move forward, though, you find yourself needing to skip the eclipse and have Plan B and C until May 14th.
What matters to you now is undoubtedly deeply private and sensitive, to the point where you must exclude almost everyone from your most personal plans and concerns. The remaining confidante is now the person you must be very careful with on the eclipse. You will not see and cannot know what is actually going on.
What’s in front of you now is, shall we say, a most delicate matter for your soul. A sensitive subject for your spirit or psyche. Not for public airing. All the more reason, then, to make sure that your confidante is someone you can truly trust, along with the situation. Don’t walk into an eclipse.
Less commonly in this cycle, you will find yourself all alone. There could be any number of reasons for your period of solitude. Some people go on a sabbatical, others find themselves hibernating while their partners travel, or even find themselves hiding from the world to avoid infecting others with COVID. If you are by yourself for a week or two, then right now, your primary relationship will be with yourself. And once again, the issue will be sensitive. Delicate. Personal. Hard to share. Skip the eclipse and have Plan B and C until May 14th.
Would you dabble with dodgy meditation groups now? No. Would you duck and dive around some kind of cult dressed up as self-improvement? What about an untried psychiatrist who is an unknown quantity? Nope. An eclipse conceals it never reveals.

The focus in April is friends and groups. Avoid the eclipse, April 8th and 9th, as there is a cover-up, or you have a blind spot. Have Plan B and C for friends and groups until 14th May as there will be cancellation, rescheduling or flux.
If we can believe Donald Trump is a Gemini, for example, and Mike Pence too, then the Republicans will be a mess until 14th May with potential for real issues on April 8th and 9th which would not be understood until May 5th, 6th and May 18th, 19th, 20th. Never mind them, though. This is about you and your band, social life, circle, Meetup, Twitter, Substack and so on. Your mates or your societies.
You are ruled by Mercury so I’m not crazy about Mercury (communication, connection) going backwards in your friends and groups zone in April, May. I’m also not crazy about Mars (conflicts) in the same spot in May and June. Duck and dive, avoid and use astrology.
If you make a new friend now, on the eclipse, this rather crucial man or woman could turn out to be of lasting importance in your life and yet it would come from your blind spot or ‘great unknowns’ and may not be useful
A cover-up phase in an old friendship can also begin now on the April 8th, 9th eclipse. Even if you’ve been with this person for years, destiny will throw you together for a few weeks, so that you can understand why a blind spot and blackout is never the right way to start anything.
If you are already involved with a group, association, team, club or other network of people (like a regular yoga class, or a tight circle of friends), then you’ll need to give more time and energy to ducking and diving in April, May. This may be a party for a group of 700 friends after their civil partnership ceremony. It may be when you and your bandmates sign a contract. Just be aware of cancellation or change capacity. And anything with a friend or group on the eclipse is not wise.

Your career, unpaid role, vocation, position, mission and ambition (perhaps study) is in the frame in April and May. Avoid the eclipse for judging or acting on April 8th, 9th and allow for changes, delays and cancellations until May 14th.
If you sign paperwork or take signatures about your job, role, course – have Plan B and C and read the fine print. Avoid the eclipse altogether if you can. The road you take on an eclipse can lead you astray for years.
You are ruled by the Moon. This is a New Moon on the 8th, 9th. It’s a new start. But it’s covered up or hidden from view, in totality. You cannot see and do not know. So don’t go there.
I would not normally raise so many red flags, but Mercury (communication, information, transportation) is going backwards. Mars, which is always inner or outer conflict, is also in the same zone of your chart from May 1st.
So use April to avoid setting up issues in May. Duck and dive. If you have anything at 19 Aries in your chart this is about your title. Usually, job title.
On an eclipse the truth is hidden in plain sight when there is a diversion or distraction. And even then, you won’t see it. So why go there?

Eclipses bring blackouts and blocked out text. They also bring total unawareness. Why go there? Your eclipse, involving the Sun (your ruler) is on April 8th and 9th and involves foreigners, foreign countries, the worldwide web, academia and/or publishing.
You also have Mercury Retrograde in the same zone of your chart through May 14th so there will be cancellations, rescheduling and change.
Travel or relocation is very likely now – or you’ll be laying the groundwork for a future trip or move. It’s an excellent time to research the town or country you have in mind, as you’ll be given access to a wide range of sources and information networks to help you. Decide after May 14th when you know what is going on.
If you are laying the groundwork for a holiday, or even a new life in a new place, you may not necessarily be aware of the realities at the eclipse. In the months or years ahead, though, you’ll realise that all the ‘homework’ you did at this time, had a special part to play. Even if you can’t get away now (or research a change of scenery) you will find that people from other cultures, regions and countries play a bigger part in your life. Avoid the eclipse and be aware of Mercury Retrograde through May 14th.
The Ninth House also rules publishing, both online and through the world of books and media. Education, study and teaching are also Ninth House concerns.
Can you choose another time? It is my duty to inform you that the Titanic sank on Mercury Retrograde – and Flight 19 disappeared. Mercury rules cars, trucks, bicycles, motorbikes, boats, ships, aeroplanes and helicopters – so you can see why its backward motion, in your house of travel, but also connections involving the publishing world – or academia – can also turn your life upside-down.
Do you really have to make big decisions, as a teacher or student, now? Astrologers say, choose another time to publish, sign or print. Choose another time to fly or emigrate. If you are going, have Plan B and C and take care on that April 8th, 9th eclipse.

For you, the eclipse and Mercury Retrograde, followed by Mars – are all in your Eighth House of joint finance. Trust fund, inheritance, marriage and mortgage, business and sexual partnership – they all qualify. Don’t judge or act regarding this on the 8th, 9th and allow for cancellation, standstills and flux until May 14th.
There will be quite a lot of gossip and loose talk now, most of it about a financial, business or property question which is on your agenda. People will change their minds, or you will change yours – don’t write anything in stone, unless you actually like wasting your own time!
The Eighth House, ruled by Aries in your chart, typically brings up important questions about sales, purchases, settlements, financial claims, contracts, tax returns, bank statements, and other complex matters.
If you lead a simple life in a share house, and don’t actually own anything at all, it will just ask you to manage complicated questions about the household potato patch. All the more reason to refuse to sign, buy, sell, wheel or deal.
The eclipse is a blind spot, or the truth hiding in plain sight, or a cover-up. April 8th and 9th are dodgy. The eclipse cuts across New York, near Wall Street. Be aware that you are unaware.
Astrologers say, don’t lend or borrow at this time. And on no account bank on anything, even the bank! Always read the fine print on paperwork, and don’t expect computers, the postal service, telephones, or the traffic flow (or airline industry) to automatically smooth the way for you.
At this time, Mercury’s chaotic backward motion will affect the entire planet. In the grand scheme of things, your divorce settlement, family inheritance, job redundancy, tax bill or bank loan may well get caught in the mess.
Something utterly peculiar is going on out there in the world economy or geopolitics and trade. It will land with a bang in the final fortnight of April. It’s an odd month so update and upgrade your radar.

The eclipse on April 8th, 9th is total. So is your lack of insight about a partner – be they sexual or professional – or just platonic. So is your lack of insight about someone against you. When you cannot see and do not know, do not judge or act. Those are the eclipse rules.
Imagine making your plans in the Eighties, banking on a happy marriage between Charles and Diana. You would have been banking on a double eclipse wedding. You failed to see Mrs Camilla Parker-Bowles, also wearing white, hidden in the congregation. Anyway, Libra, it’s on that level. Skip the eclipse. Don’t date on the eclipse and don’t divorce on it either.
The other issue is Mercury Retrograde with partners or adversaries, until May 14th. Don’t have it out with your former business partner before then. It will be irksome. Wait until after the 14th of May for everything with your other half or the other side, Libra.
If you have anything at 19 Libra, double that message, because it’s in your Seventh House of duets and duels and the eclipse will oppose that, on April 8th, 9th.
Even if your old husband wants to remarry or just go out with you again, publicly, why go there now? Wait. You are not being shown the full story. Making assumptions about your husband on April 8th or 9th could send you on the wrong path. Trying to get everything in writing regarding a duet or duel before May 14th will result in a rewrite, or a mistake, or the post being lost, or the email going to spam and so on.
What is April good for? Taking notes and erasing them later. Mental rehearsal. Beta testing in a notebook. Would you enter into a legal wrangle now? Nope.

The flux and cover-up in your life is about work, unpaid work or university/college life. It is about your health, fitness and wellbeing – mentally and physically. Avoid the eclipse on April 8th and 9th to judge and act, because you have no idea what is going on.
There will be rescheduling, cancellation or standstills until May 14th. So, for example, if you went to see an optometrist on April 8th, he may get your prescription wrong. Or if you (generally) decided to reshuffle the roles in the firm before May 14th you could have to do it all over again, later.
It really depends on your personal chart, as some Scorpio people have more troublesome health and work placements than others (anything at Virgo 28 for example). In general, though, if you can decide any time, don’t decide on April 8th, 9th. And if you can sign or accept a signature any time, do it after May 14th.
If you have to go ahead, read the fine print, get a second opinion and have Plan A and B. Mars goes into this same chart zone in May and the first half of June so anything that’s been a poor initial choice will then lead to more energy and time being swallowed up, and you have better things to do.

The usual blind spot, cover-up and low visibility of the total eclipse on April 8th, 9th will be about your daughter, son, any young relatives, younger people in general (through work, for example) – and sexual rituals. So, this includes courtship, the dating game and the bedroom, Sagittarius. Avoid those two dates to judge or act. You would not start a relationship then and you would not organise a children’s fundraiser.
Mercury Retrograde is also in the same zone until May 14th. So, there will be people going back on their word; rescheduling; you going back on your statements; reversed arrangements; anything ‘re’ in nature (rethinking, retracting, relaunching later).
Mars goes into that chart zone on May 1st, which is more than you need, really, so just fast-forward plans if you can or at least have Plan B, C, D. Don’t assume anything on the eclipse because you’ll likely be unable to see or know very much at all.
I’m not crazy about the oppositions involving this zone of your chart, either. I just think you have better things to do. Keep it simple, low-key, with minimal life-changing decision-making – in April and May. Adopt a child another time. Switch your teenage son’s school another time.

This eclipse with all its lack of awareness, affects your house, apartment, land, property investment, extended family, household, town and country. Don’t judge or act on April 8th or 9th because you’ll be way out. You have no idea what is actually going on then, Capricorn, so bypass.
You also have Mercury Retrograde in the same chart zone, so the communication, information and even transportation is in flux until May 14th.
If you move a new tenant in you may not realise your landlord intends to sell. If you plan to bail out your father after bankruptcy, you may have no idea that he does not want you to do that. It’s on that level. If you intend to sell the family home you may not realise your brother secretly wants to buy it. Eclipses are enough to send us way off track, for years. Skip the 8th and 9th of April.
Allow for people to change their minds, or you to change yours, until May 14th. This strongly applies to property you want to sell, purchase, lease or end a lease with. If you have anything at Cancer 16-21 degrees you can double that message, Capricorn. Duck and dive in April.

You’ll be reading a lot/hearing a lot about this Aries total eclipse on April 8th and 9th, so how are you affected?
Eclipses cover up and conceal. They blot out and black out. This now applies to your brother, sister and/or cousin. It also applies to the media and the internet. Finally, to neighbours and neighbouring places you travel to, or commute to.
Bit of a list there, Aquarius, but often the list categories will cross over. So, your brother may want you to go on holiday with his family to a neighbouring state.
We’ve had enough history with eclipses (since Captain Cook) to know that assuming anything on them, is a bad idea. You will be beyond clueless on April 8th, 9th, so don’t swing into action or make your mind up. Not about those areas of your life anyway.
I’m also not enamoured of Mercury Retrograde, also in Aries, also in your chart zone of siblings, cousins, adjacent locations, media and web. This all goes backwards and forwards until May 14th, Aquarius. Make sure you have Plan B and C.
Don’t trot along assuming it’s all in place with your new car, or your sister’s wedding and so on. It may not be. You need to box clever on this weather.
You also have Mercury himself and then Mars going over that eclipse spot in your chart in May. So, you don’t really want to be doing a double take in May realising how hoodwinked you were on April 8th, 9th.
It all comes out in the wash from the 14th of May so if anything can wait, make it wait.

The usual blackout, blocked-out information, lack of insight and low vision of the eclipse, affects your income, bank account, cryptocurrency, house, apartment, charity, business, valuables, shopping and sales. Avoid April 8th and 9th for big decisions.
You also have Mercury Retrograde in the same chart zone so there will be a rewrite of what you assumed, anyway. This rewrite will happen once or twice by May 14th. So, if you use astrology, you won’t sell your home in April. You won’t switch banks.
Some crafty astrologers deliberately use this cycle to make money. They buy cheap shares during the panic, then sell them again in a few days or weeks, at a profit. You would have to be extremely confident to do that. Pisces, you are more likely to find a muddle out there and it can be very hard to master.
We are going to see Wall Street drama anyway in the last fortnight of April. So that may affect you directly. Even if you have zero interest in Wall Street, be aware of the potential for muddle, mayhem and messy situations with your money, shopping, possessions and so on – in the month of April, with no real end until May 14th.
The eclipse itself catches Wall Street on April 8th out of New York. It may have a ripple effect with you that is not clear until May, when on two occasions you realise just how much you didn’t see. So, buyer beware. Box clever.
