Duets and Duels
Aries, avoid the New Moon Solar Eclipse in Libra on October 2nd, 2024. Vesta is also in Libra from October 27th. The latter is important if you are in a situation with one male and two or more females. Do all you can to avoid a harem. The Sun in Libra from Saturday, September 24th until Sunday, October 23rd, 2024, will shed useful light on the other person. The duet may be marriage. The duel may be a love triangle. The duet can be a professional double-act. The duel can be falling out with a former business partner. Just be aware of the eclipse as you will find the full picture about the other side (or your other half) is obscured. Don’t date on October 2nd or have ‘the talk’ if you can avoid it.
The New Moon in Libra normally suggests a new chapter with a duet or duel in your life. Just remember the eclipse in the background. For all that there is – a great galloping new story involving ‘the two of us’ or ‘me against you’ in September – just be aware that eclipses conceal, they never reveal. Your new girlfriend may still be sleeping with her old girlfriend, for example. Or you may be assuming the man you want is well and truly single, when he’s quietly lining up someone else in case you fall through. A rare chance to see what you can get away with, in terms of your reputation, title and personal appearance – is here. It will be put to the test around a week later so give yourself some wiggle room. If you are going for a cosmetic surgery consultation, allow a week for pondering, as a Full Moon is always about your inner conflict or another person’s.

Like all eclipses, this conceals. It does not reveal. If you cannot avoid the timing, allow for the fact that you will not know the full story.

The Sun in Libra from Saturday, September 24th until Sunday, October 23rd, 2024, will shed light on how your physical and mental health dictates what sort of service you give. Courtship, Heirs and Pretenders
Astrology is ancient. The definition of your Fifth House, ruled by Libra (where we are about to see so much action) is courtship, heirs and pretenders to the throne. The bedchamber, your suitors, the line of succession. October is interesting as decisions will roll. Your son’s school, for example, or a possible one-night stand.
On a more complex level, October is about more unusual sexual relationships, separation and divorce, abortion rulings, gay and lesbian partnerships and anything getting in the way in the bedroom. Depending on your chart (if you have Libra natal factors), you may well be in the thick of it – as natally, Libra rules marriage, separation, common-law marriage and divorce. It may be that your daughter is at school with a boy who comes out as gay and brings that issue home with her. Or you may find yourself trying to date online when every other person has just ended a relationship. As I said, it’s a bigger deal if you have Libra natal factors.
The Sun in Libra from Saturday, September 24th until Sunday, October 23rd, 2024, will shed useful light on your bedroom, son, daughter, godchildren or young relatives. Just avoid the eclipse on the 2nd of October as it’s a blind spot or cover-up, Gemini. Not helpful. An eclipse does what it says on the can. You are being shown what it is possible to pull off with groups, friends, bands, clubs, teams, communities, societies and associations in October. You’ve done it before, and you’re going to do it again. Chiron the Centaur is back in a big way, thanks to the sextile from Jupiter. He’s long been a symbol of audacity, temerity and chutzpah. Heresy, even. Chiron is now galloping merrily through your sector of allies, brotherhood, sisterhood, your social life and social media.
In 2025, friendships and the people power within a group becomes even more central to your life, Gemini. From next year, these people will become a holiday from reality for you. Just avoid the Full Moon on the 17th of October for major moves with friends or groups. It’s too big a stretch.

In all these areas – the web, local trips and your brothers and sisters – you find October 2024 is a key month. Libra rules the internet, commuting, short journeys, siblings and cousins in your life. So, avoid the New Moon Solar Eclipse in Libra on October 2nd, 2024. Eclipses cover up, obscure and hide. It doesn’t take much to choose another day to act or judge. Allow a day either side for world time zone differences as you may be in Los Angeles and your sister may be in Auckland.
With the Sun (your ruler) in your solar Third House, there is no doubt at all that you’re going to be pinning a lot on getting around your county, state, territory (or even closer to home). A sextile to Jupiter from Chiron in October suggests quite an historic opportunity – a rare solution or open door. Both finance, property, charity and business zones of your solar chart are hit in October. Decisions loom. Take your time with them, Virgo. As from January 2025, you are going to sign off from karma with (say) a partner or relative. In 2025, as a whole, a new era begins for your finances. It’s an extended holiday from reality and it runs for years.
Circling back to this month, the Sun in Libra from Saturday, September 24th until Sunday, October 23rd, 2024, will shed useful light on your charity, house, shares, business, apartment or valuables. All that you earn, own or owe will be exposed then. Your values will be up for public inspection. Who or what you value most. Who or what you will compromise over. Because the Eighth House is involved, it’s about the relationships, as much as the money or the property. Those relationships are complicated.
Double that message if you have Taurus and/or Scorpio factors in your natal chart. In October, we see transits in Scorpio in exactly the same sector of your chart, the Eighth House. Those Scorpio transits are also in opposition to Taurus, ruling your natal Second House. In plain English, it’s a double whammy – profoundly personal and potentially life-changing.

Use the first, as you can get away with what is supposed to be unacceptable or beyond the pale. You have done it before, and you will do it again. October 2024
First of all, let’s get this October New Moon eclipse out of the way. It’s about your image, profile, title, reputation and portrait. It is also about a blind spot and cover-up so skip the 1st, 2nd (when the eclipse actually falls) and 3rd for decisions or actions.
Now, to the main menu – In both your birth chart and also your Libra chart, October 2024 is about your other half, or the other side. This may be your husband or girlfriend. You work partner. A legal opponent. Maybe just a rival. This is because you were born with the Sun in the Seventh House, actually ruled by Libra and the scales. So life is either fair or unfair with the other person, usually a wife or boyfriend (say) or with someone you think of as your enemy. This path towards fairness, even justice, is shown clearly in October.
It owes a lot to what you did 18-19 years ago. If you are owed, karmically, then the scales will be balanced in a way that seems fair to you. If you owe on any level, then you may have to take a deep breath and play your part in balancing your side, with the other side. Recognising what went on 18-19 years ago, the last time the South Node was in Libra and the North Node was in your opposite sign of Aries, will help you recognise who/what you find opposite to you. In an ideal world you and this very different (but equal) person would find a helping hand coming from above to swing the see-saw in a way that makes it simple to centre. Instead, you have some work to do in October, Libra.
This entire karmic loop ends next January 2025. And, in fact, October is nodding to the future, as in the second half of next year, you begin a completely different cycle, with or without this person. It will be a holiday from reality, eventually. A bubble that insulates you from what most people would call a regular life with a partner.
As this new cycle, involving Neptune and Saturn in your opposite sign of Aries, runs for many years – take great care with what you set up in October 2024 as you are laying the foundations for the rest of the Twenties. Sometimes an outside opinion is very useful and of course if this is straying into legal territory, then you already have someone at the other end of the phone. Libra Weather is with you in your Twelfth House of inner life in October. So, self-help, meditation, counselling, the Tarot, mediumship, hypnosis and the like. Religion and spirituality are very high on the list as is anything your soul trusts in good faith. It may be an unusual belief, for example.
The New Moon Solar Eclipse in Libra on the 2nd of October 2024 should be avoided. It looks like a new beginning but it’s extremely misleading. Don’t hire a new clairvoyant then – and don’t meet the Archbishop of Canterbury. I include psychologists and psychiatrists with the Twelfth House as it historically rules the subconscious mind. A classic example of what to avoid on an eclipse would be negotiating a plan with a particular faith or religious group or joining a group like Alcoholics Anonymous or Narcotics Anonymous (for example). All these things reach into your soul, spirit and psyche and all an eclipse does is obscure your vision.
The Sun in Libra from Saturday, September 24th until Sunday, October 23rd, 2024, will otherwise help you shed light on the inner workings – of your own inner workings. This Twelfth House transit can only happen once a year and it’s like looking in a mirror and soul-searching or seeing Father Brown in the confessional. Thus, the complicated relationship you have with your soul, spirit, psyche – your unconscious mind – that part of you under lock and key is now centre-stage. Scorpio, it’s a matter for you.
Workload and Wellbeing

You will pull off what others say is out of the question, beyond the pale, simply unacceptable or, quite frankly, impossible. This may involve doctors, surgeons, homeopathy, naturopaths, fitness instructors, dentists, psychologists and so on. Your Sixth House, ruled by Aries, describes your physical and mental health.
Chiron is a symbol of the gadfly, to quote Dennis Elwell. You are now in the company of a gadfly or behaving like one. Provocative. Against what is orthodox. Perhaps even, downright heretical. Your rather punk rock approach to your own body or mind may be encouraged by a guiding figure fostering your best attempt at imitating The Slits or The Damned. Maybe you’re doing this all by yourself.
Scorpio, from 2025, your health offers you an escape from the real world altogether. A parallel universe where the mundane, normal and everyday need never intrude. October 2024 is a hint of this. Just avoid the Full Moon in Aries on the 17th of October, please. It’s not useful for surgery or health insurance claims. It’s too big a stretch. If you have to go ahead, so be it, but give yourself more time and space than usual.
The Sixth House also rules work. Unpaid work, paid work, housework, study – it’s all work. Chiron in Aries sextile Jupiter in Gemini on the 12th of October is a green light for another audacious move. Basically, when it comes to service and duty, Scorpio, you will get away with it all, until you don’t. Jupiter’s angle to Chiron is lucky enough to give you carte blanche here. Whatever more traditional or conventional people might have to say about your experiments with routine tasks and scheduled efforts is really irrelevant. Friends and Groups
Libra Weather is with you in your Eleventh House of friends and groups. This may be a professional organisation of your peers, or it may be a solid group of chums who were there at your wedding. It can be a football team or your band.
Thanks to the eclipse, October 2024 needs a close watch. The New Moon Solar Eclipse in Libra on the 2nd of October is a blind spot and a blackout. Skip that date for joining a new club or hiring someone new for the group. You can’t see and don’t know.
Otherwise, the Sun in Libra from Saturday, September 24th until Sunday, October 23rd, 2024, will at least help you shed light on the nature of the group and the friendships within the group. That’s handy. This is an ensemble cast, say, or just a group you spend time with on the weekends. You need to step back and see these people as others do. When it comes to courtship, the bedroom, babies, infants, schoolchildren, teenagers and young adults – you are mid-experiment. You have been getting away with things for years, pushing past the barriers of what most people do. You will do it again on October 12th, give or take a day. Guided by Chiron to attempt the audacious, the maverick and the purely punk, you are quite likely to leave jaws on the floor.
Your Fifth House is a work in progress. As from 2025, you enter a new cycle of many years’ duration when dating, mating and relating put you in another world. A parallel universe. A holiday from reality. It’s the same with the world of children and younger people. When people say ‘unreal’ (which you still hear in Australia), they mean ‘wonderful.’ Actually, both of these are Neptune words. Unreality is Neptune and so is wonder. As in, Alice in Wonderland.
So, next year parks you there. We don’t know why, yet. However, October 2024 nods to the future. Avoid the Full Moon in Aries on the 17th of October, though. It’s too hard. If you want to adopt, date someone new or sort out some Viagra for your husband, try another date.
Do you have Libra factors in your natal chart? This is personal. It’s about the duet or duel in your life pulling in love, sex and romance. Again, avoid the eclipse and that Full Moon. Yet, you are absolutely working your way to a sign-off from your situation, which will take place in January 2025. Sagittarius, the turning point with (say) having a baby, breaking up with someone (you don’t want a baby) and related issues, like coming out as a lesbian, is March-April 2025.
So, a lot of the future is coming into land in October this year. I just can’t cover all categories here -such as you may be married with a daughter. Yet, when it comes to the most intensely personal aspects of your life, whatever choices you’ve made this month matters. Whatever fork in the road you choose, puts you on a path for 2025. So take your time at the crossroads.

Libra Weather is with you in your Tenth House of career, academia and unpaid work. It’s quite a story in September and it will take you towards an eclipse early on. These are the dates to watch:

Avoid the Eclipse
Skip the eclipse on October 2nd for choices about career, unpaid work or academia. You won’t see, or cannot possibly know, what is going on. The terms or dates may alter or there will be something in the fine print that takes you way past normal communication, information and negotiation. So just be aware of that if you are accepting a new gig or enrolling in anything. Of course, Capricorn, it can be an ongoing project, but eclipses are, historically, proven blind spots. Here you may also find a cover-up.
I’m also not crazy about Pluto in Capricorn in your natal Tenth House of career, unpaid work or academia. You have the Sun in the Tenth House anyway, so normally you would be shining here, but you are going through a long, long backward process until November. A change in the balance of power, happening back to front. Usually when we see this kind of shift in the controls, people cover up what they are doing.
Otherwise, Capricorn, the Sun in Libra from Saturday, September 24th until Sunday, October 23rd, 2024, will at least help you shed light on it all. This is incredibly useful. Your best chance in 12 months to step back from your career and see it as others do. What is your performance like? How are you doing?
The New Moon in Libra is deceptive. It brings you a new role, path or project in all this, but someone is being secretly eclipsed here. Look up and you’ll see it as a sliver in the night sky. It’s the very, very tiniest start of something which is best avoided.

What happens this month nods to 2025. Next year, you will begin to see how your home can become a holiday from the real world. You will also discover in 2025 that a family or household can offer a parallel universe; a different world, rather like the one Alice discovered when she fell down the rabbit hole. October 2024 may even give you some 2025 dates, Capricorn. We associate Aries and the Fourth House with your family tree, ancestors; heritage; nationality, past, and culture. This is also where 2025 beckons you down the rabbit hole into a completely different space, not bearing much resemblance to reality at all. October 2024, again, nods to that.

Connected to this, are publishing and academia. Avoid the New Moon Solar Eclipse in Libra on 2nd October. You won’t see and can’t know. October needs a close watch. Don’t trust anything on the eclipse with foreigners, foreign countries, publishing or academia because it obscures. It blots out and covers up. It’s one of the great astrology rules.
Otherwise, the Sun in Libra from Saturday, September 24th until Sunday, October 23rd, 2024, will at least help you shed light on how you are going to deal with foreigners and foreign countries in future. This may be Zoom, for example, Aquarius. Any complication with foreigners, or through them, can be exposed in October and analysed. So, I have to say, this month is looking multi-layered for you. This may be the Englishman in New York, as Sting suggested, or it could be a New Zealand soap opera with a clash of cultures in Auckland.
We all know travel causes epidemics to become pandemics, so you don’t have to be an astrological genius to work out that the eclipse is best avoided (if you are even travelling at all). Don’t organise a conference with foreign delegates on the eclipse.
Siblings and Cousins
Chiron in Aries sextile Jupiter in Gemini on the 12th of October is one date to watch. The Full Moon in Aries on October 17th is another. You have been getting away with the apparently unacceptable, outrageous, audacious or completely maverick, for years. A brother, sister and/or cousin has been at the core of the experiment. It goes on, near October 12th and, once again, you will pull something off. Avoid the Full Moon with/for/through your siblings and cousins, though. It’s a big stretch.
The Third House also rules the internet. Next year begins your Neptune odyssey through this house, leaving the real world very far behind and immersing yourself in a parallel universe. The new technology of 2025 will rise to meet you. Do you have Gemini factors? Double that message.
In all cases, October is crucial to 2025. Next year is when you will not only be exploring a different side of the web, but you will also be losing yourself in new ways to commute or travel regionally. Maybe it’s time to discover Uber with dogs. How about a yacht?

The really big-ticket items you have to put in your will (like perpetual dividends or benefits) fall in this category.
This is a really important month as you also have Aries weather in your Second House of personal income. Kindly skip the eclipse on October 2nd, 2024, as you won’t see it and can’t know what is going on. Chiron in Aries sextile Jupiter in Gemini on the 12th of October allows you to get away with what some find outrageous. The Full Moon in Aries on the 17th of October is best avoided as it’s very hard work.
October needs a close watch. Don’t trust anything on the eclipse, because you are going to hit a blind spot or cover-up. Apart from the eclipse and Full Moon, the Sun in Libra from Saturday, September 24th until Sunday, October 23rd, 2024, will at least help you shed light on the numbers. This is really useful.
In 2025, you will take both feet off the ground as you go into Neptune in Aries in your Second House of income, possessions, houses, apartments, charity and business. You will be insulated from reality, floating along in a different world. October 2024 nods to that. Next year, when others look at your situation with a home or money, they will have an impression of what is there. Rather like an impressionist painting, but on closer inspection it will be join-the-dots. You will care less next year as you just want the escapism. This is all a long way off now, but the month ahead sets a few things up, so be aware of those dates.
