In this feature I will give you tips and tricks for getting the most from The Smith Waite Tarot, The Modern I Ching, The Garden Oracle and The Astrology Oracle.
I’ve written a novel about psychics and also a how-to guide for teenagers, in the past. Both involved a lot of research, even though I have been aware of strong E.S.P. since my first job as the astrologer for ELLE magazine. Some of that research has gone into creating the digital cards and guides, above.
Learn to Trust Your E.S.P
Learn to trust your E.S.P. by habitually using the Tarot and Oracle cards, keeping a journal about your results and relaxing into your sixth sense.
As with cooking or guitar, the more you practise, the better you get. The more natural, the supernatural feels to you the more you will realise it really is just ‘super’ nature at work. Your five senses now offer you a sister sense. It should eventually come to feel as normal and everyday as smell, for example, or taste.
There is plenty of evidence for Extra-Sensory Perception in human beings so don’t be put off by sceptics. Still, you are your own best judge .
Always Test the Present
If your life was a magazine or book, what would be on the cover? Who would be on the cover? Tune into the present with wow-factor accuracy then proceed to the future.
Check the Past
You can check the accuracy of your E.S.P. by asking about something which has already happened. For example – ‘What was the outcome of my moving into this apartment?’ Learning to trust your own sixth sense comes from testing and checking.
If It’s Specific, Use The Astrology Oracle
If you have a specific question about a small matter with tiny details then try The Astrology Oracle first. You will need Premium Membership to do this. For example – I had a reader who wanted to know what results she would achieve with cosmetic surgery. She needed a First House card (image, appearances) to be sure.
If It’s About Growth, Use The Garden Oracle
If you want to expand your business, have a baby, increase your strength at the gym – you are growing, nurturing and using life gardening skills. The Garden Oracle is good for this, below.

When Tarot and Oracles Duck the Question
You may not have focussed (see How To Focus, below) and been distracted by another issue, or even the television. Try again.
How To Focus
Shut the door, turn off any noise, leave your phone somewhere else. There is no rush. You can go as fast or slow as you wish. Allow yourself to go more deeply into an issue, too. You can draw one card then another, then another. Do write down your results.
When Tarot and Oracles Agree
The digital cards here work in two different ways. Firstly, they can be like four camera angles on the same scene in a film.
Four different ‘takes’. Secondly they can back each other up and agree. This is something the cards have been designed to do.
So, for example, The Modern I Ching might talk to you about closeness, as advice for the family. The Tarot will then show you the same comment, in the Ten of Pentacles. The Garden Oracle might single out the person in question for you – a particular man or woman.
Pink Noise Works
Playing Pink Noise for 10 minutes on headphones before reading for yourself is something readers recommend. It is a commonly used technique in parapsychology tests in major universities.
Take Screen Shots
Take screen shots of the cards. Sit with the images. Keep them on your phone or computer. Often, the pictures will speak to you, over time. I hope you get useful answers to your questions with these tips and tricks.

You frequently say that one can work with the Tarot cards, basically by visualizing what happens next.
However, I have aphantasia (the inability to voluntarily visualise mental images). I can’t visualise anything and I also don’t have visual imagination. I can write fiction without problems because of this, so it’s not a complete lack of imagination. I just don’t have the visual one.
The cards are very visual, so I’m usually lost or dumbfounded. Are there some other, non-visual methods for people like me?
Sure. Switch to writing, instead. You may be clairsentient so sense the message or clairaudient so you hear it.

A tough man is stopping you from reaching your goals. He has the power to make budget cuts or axe people, probably in his job, but maybe at home as well. He intimidates you, but you need to negotiate with him, to get past him. Understand where he is coming from.

I have somewhat embarrassing question, that perhaps you may have a suggestion to offer . I was going over old photos of my Grandmother’s recently, and came across one that always drew my attention. It is a picture I love of my 10 yr old mother, with her 12 yr old cousin Helen, and another little girl who unfortunately my mother doesn’t remember the name of. All 3 girls are holding apples and smiling. Standing behind them are my Grandmother, her sister Bridget, (“Aunt Bride”), and Bridget’s neighbors. It was taken in St. John’s, NFLD, the summer of 1948, when my Mom & her Mom were visiting relatives in NFLD, (where my grandparents were born), from the US. It also happened to be a time when Newfoundlanders were voting on their future, whether to remain part of the U.K., regain independence, or become part of Canada. ( Ironically I am looking at these photos at a present time when Canada itself is voting for their future). My Mom is now 87, was the youngest sibling and cousin of her family, and now the only one still with us. She always talked about that summer in NFLD, where she traveled to St. John’s, Flat Rock, Torbay and Montreal, and had such a great time. She always said she wanted somehow to get in touch with her relatives in Canada, but never did , and regrets that.
I thought it would be nice to somehow track down her cousin Helen. I came across a partial family tree that showed Helen’s married name, and that she had 2 children, a boy and a girl, who I am guessing are around my age. I did a google search, and unfortunately came across Helen’s obituary from a few years back . I recognized the relatives names that were listed, and from Helen’s picture as an adult, to me it was the same little 12 yr old girl , with the same smile, holding an apple back in 1948. I would love to be able to contact her daughter and at the very least be able to show her the picture of what I believe is our mothers, many moons ago. I would love my Mom to be able to relay stories of what she and Helen did back then, and I would love to be able to connect with Helen’s daughter. Unfortunately, I have never signed up with Facebook or instagram ( even back then there was something I did not trust about Zuckerberg, and the thought of a third party owning images and content of me, my family and friends ). I do have a lame LinkedIn acct that I barely use, so I do not know how I would even begin to try and contact Helen’s daughter. If I did, then there is more awkward situation, thanks to the man currently in charge of the US and his illustrious cabinet, wrecking our country and any relations we may have had.. how do introduce myself – “Hey, I believe I am a cousin of yours from the US , just the country you want to hear from! You have never heard of me or my family , but I think I have a picture of our mothers that I thought you might like to see !” Oy ..
I did ask the tarot about the possibility of trying to connect with Helen’s daughter, and what would be a good time to try and how, and I drew the Queen of Wands. I also asked this on a recent delivery date regarding siblings and cousins for Sun Pisces like myself. ( I also asked for guidance from Helen, Grandma, and Aunt Bride – wink) . Any thoughts would be be most appreciated.

Thanks Donna. Your Queen of Wands card is telling you to get in touch with your (possible) cousin. The sunflowers in the card represent the younger generations in the family tree and it’s a positive card. You have asked for guidance from the family. I saw an extremely unusual thing yesterday. A Newfoundland dog pulling a small child in a dog cart. I believe that’s a message for you, given your connection to the area. Do pursue this.

You set the time-frame, which is very important. If you ask the Tarot ‘What is the outcome of my job interview?’ it will tell you, about all the years until the end of your life, if you don’t set time boundaries. The Tower is a jolt, yes, so the trick is to go back into the deck and ask how you can best avoid it.

I have been following your readings for a while and as a Sun Cancer, I’ve been reading about a holiday from reality coming up with Neptune in my house of career. When I think of a holiday from reality – it invoke positive situations – dream-like. Like a dream come true. However, what I am presently experiencing is a nightmare – which makes me wonder whether that is also technically a holiday from reality (?). In my case, I just started a new job towards the end of March earlier this year, and the environment is turning out to be very toxic. It’s forcing me to starting looking for another job already. Will Jupiter entering Cancer next month help with this? Do I stand to find a better job then? Or will Jupiter amplify the toxicity instead? (shudder)
I’m sorry you have a toxic job. Neptune did indeed go into your solar Tenth House of career at the end of March, when you started your new position. Neptune is now in Aries for the first time in 164 years, so it’s rare. Neptune is indeed the holiday from reality you mention. It’s not a dream come true. It is what it is, which is an escape from the everyday and a vacation from normality. It can apply to paid work, unpaid work or study when in the Tenth House. If you swap the word ‘Neptune’ for the sea, which it rules, you can see why you might feel all at sea, or floundering, or without an anchor, or treading water. It’s neither negative nor positive, it just is – what it is. You have the opportunity for a far better new title, role – or letters after your name – qualifications – from June. Business is Taurus and Scorpio in astrology and you have factors at 4 through 27 in both signs on the profit/loss axis. So you’d want Uranus off 27 Taurus, for a start, to avoid the usual instability, guessing games and lack of predictability that comes with that transit. From 1st June Uranus has left 27, so the last degree in your financial chart pattern. So you get a long break, but then he goes back to 27 Taurus on December 31st and remains there until the second half of March 2026. So you, the world and his wife continue to see the most erratic economic trends.
