How can you shed new light on old problems and use Ops, Vesta, Salacia, Ceres and Proserpina to figure out solutions, not just now, but ongoing? (Video: Peter Clarke).
Saturn, Ops and Vesta
Everyone knows that Saturn, by sign and house, shows where you are burdened. Where are you weighed down with restrictions. Where you are limited, in life.
Saturn had a wife and her name was Ops. That’s hidden in the word ‘optimism.’ Also by sign and house, Ops will show you where you have solutions to your Saturn issues.
Fix Saturn With Ops
So, for example, if you have Saturn in Gemini in the Third House and you are hampered by the media and the internet, you look to Ops. If you find her in Virgo and your Sixth House of workload, the answer is to use your career.
One Male, Two+ Female Problems
This is common in female-dominated industries, with one male boss (flight attendants and a pilot). It is also common with families where a man has only daughters and no sons.
Vesta is Saturn’s daughter. She comes with the same kind of restrictions, but there is a way out. I’ll go into this in the Zoom and also invite you to pick a Tarot card to solve this, if you wish.
Neptune, Salacia and Feeling Lost
Lost, dazed, confused, in over your head, drifting, floating or even completely flooded? Do you find yourself stabbing at things, only to have them slip out of reach?
By sign and house, Neptune and his wife Salacia will show you where this happens.
Salacia is really important. She is ignored by most astrologers but she is a Trans-Neptunian Object, found in 2004, the year of the Asian Tsunami.
In Aquarius in the Eleventh House, Salacia can find you in messy situations with groups of friends and acquaintances. Maybe you are the kind of person who should minimise social media and tightly control it.
Pluto, Ceres, Proserpina and Control
Pluto, by sign and house, shows where you need total control, but so do others – be they people, organisations or countries.
Pushing back makes you powerful. However – knowing where your Ceres and Proserpina are, by sign and house, gives you vital information on how to do that.
Ceres shows where you must cut deals and compromises, even though you feel strong emotions – anger or loss. It’s where you have a tight grip, on who or what you are passionate about – but must give it up.
Proserpina shows where you are a go-between. A bridge or middle person.
To deal with Pluto, understand his wife and mother-in-law.

I have a Saturn conjunct Pluto in Libra ( 28-29) and Psyche at 1 Scorpio. I learnt from you that Saturn has an impact on my relationships, definitely not a positive one – I looked at OPs which is in Capricorn (11), conjunct my Juno at (15) would that mean that something Capricornian would help me overcome Saturn’s impact and what would could that be?

Thank you. I look forward to seeing you. Pluto at 28 and Saturn at 29 Libra are in conjunction in your Seventh House of duets and duels. Typically, marriage, de facto partnership, work partnership – and divorce, separation or legal difference. They are occasionally triggered by cycles which go across 28, 29 degrees of Libra, Capricorn, Cancer, Aries – and in fact you have come through Pluto at 28, 29 Capricorn in recent times. (Transiting Pluto square natal Pluto; transiting Pluto square natal Saturn). One way around the need for total control of a partnership/a partner – which one can never have – is to find another way to have a relationship. It need not be marriage. One way around the heavy restrictions and tests of patience with partnership, is to look for alternatives to a legally binding contract. So there’s that. You are correct in thinking that your Ops will help you with Saturn. So will your Jupiter. Ops is in Capricorn. Jupiter is in Scorpio. Juno’s too wide to be in aspect, so it’s down to your optimism, resourcefulness, can-do attitude and practical solutions (Ops) with your career (Capricorn) and your basic luck (Jupiter) with joint finance (Scorpio) and shared property (also Scorpio) that helps so much with the challenges of partners. You’d want to find out how other women do it, in terms of houses, apartments, assets, paying the bills – while also sharing a bed with somebody. What are the options? You’d have to expect the long transit of Jupiter in Libra, then Scorpio, to be of historic importance for your love life, with a lot of big answers. That’s ahead, from 2028-2029, 2029-2030.

Thank you for coming along to the Zoom. Covid is Virgo/Sixth House and public health. So in astrology we look for historic cycles in that sign, or affecting that sign, for something big – like a pandemic. It’s gone nowhere. It’s still with us, in a new variant form and the vaccines still don’t stop infection. Covid Stratus is the latest version. You can minimise your risk by exactly the same methods you knew in 2020. Avoid crowds. Wear an N95 on the tube, for example. Open windows wherever you can. Wash your hands whenever you can (and a good tip this) use hand gel after you’ve put your hands on the door handle of any public restroom to get out. Door handles have been found to carry all sorts, and not just Covid. You have a huge Virgo stellium so are far more aware than most people. The entire current Virgo cycle ends in July 2026. The South Node is out of Virgo. We will have spent 2020-2026 in one of the toughest cycles in history for public health and come out the other side.
Looking forward to this last zoom. But I already have a question! Saturn tracks as I don’t have nor am I interested in children and I’ve struggled to date and mate. But what happens when you have Saturn and Ops (and Proserpina) in the same house? How can I use Ops?
Proserpina, Saturn, Apollo and Ops are all in Leo in your Fifth House of motherhood, babies, infants, schoolchildren, teenagers, young adults, courtship and the bedroom. Part of you is the go-between, bridging the gap between two quite powerful people or organisations. Part of you is also the leader here, multi-tasking and frequently being copied. Another part of you is weighed down by a heavy load to carry, emotionally psychologically or even physically. Finally, you are your own problem-solver. You will be offered a new relationship, or the reboot of an old relationship, from mid 2026 to mid 2027 when Jupiter goes through the Fifth House. So that’s a useful time to take who or what is on offer. Until then, a good way to figure out your patterns, is to draw one Tarot card for each of Proserpina, Saturn, Apollo and Ops and ask ‘How have I expressed this, to date?’ Then sit with the card and see your way into answers, coming from it. The Tarot can run pretty deep.

You are correct about your family – you have the obstacles (Saturn) and the answers (Ops) both in Cancer, both in the Fourth House of the extended family tree and the household, growing up. You also have Mars and Apollo there. Mars describes your need to act, to push back and perhaps to fight. Apollo is your leading role within that same family. This is a really good time to fix any issues from childhood or adolescence, or to deal with relatives now. Jupiter is going through Cancer until mid 2026 and is the problem solver of astrology. Vesta in Libra is also easily fixed when you realise that competing with other women is not the answer. Solidarity with them, is. Love triangles are best handled (or harem atmospheres are best handled) by identifying the male as the issue and cleaving towards the other female/s in the situation. A sense of humour about it helps. And obviously, you would avoid adultery (or being a man’s emotional baggage for his next relationship) as much as you could.
Dear Jessica -Wonderful you will be back in London :)…Some very odd experiences have been happening of late …dare I say fate/universe gently moving me to a new city with a new job and where it just so happens a man I am very keen on all TBC but feeling positive…after such a long period of being down I am too scared to actually think there could be light at the end of the tunnel that my life could be moving forward in a positive way… in case I jinx it…I am not sure if my chart mirrors my experiences of late…My saturn is Leo and ops in Virgo…also I have Pluto in Libra and as best I understand astrology I feel these placements have been heavy throughout my life. Thank you. You are a Sun Cancer woman, with stelliums in Cancer, Leo, Virgo and Scorpio. Your luck is in until June 2026 with houses, land, gardens, apartments, your old home town, your homeland, your workload, wellbeing and finance. Jupiter picks up all those areas of your life and in fact has been on side for months. The bedroom and courtship offer up opportunities and solutions not possible in 12 years from mid 2026 to mid 2027. Even if you have had obstacles with that (Saturn in Leo) you will find Jupiter in Leo throws you answers. Jupiter will also sextile Pluto in your Seventh House of partnership when he is in Leo so the stage is set, commencing in an obvious way in July, August 2026.

I’m curious about a conjunction I have..Proserpina is exactly conjunct Jupiter 22° Taurus (& BML 24°)!? What are the affects of this given that Jupiter is the Great Benefactor? I am independent and eclectic in nature so maybe that’s its benefit for me…? I personally relate to the story of Proserpina. I see the story as a feminist archetype of authentic women wielding their power (because of) & in the balance of opposing forces. Any insight would be greatly appreciated because this natal conjunction really got activated for me during the 21° Jupiter/Uranus conjunction transit in 2024. Thank you!

Proserpina suggests you are a good go-between when it comes to finance, valuables, real-estate and related areas like charity and business. Hi – have never noted properly before now that I have Saturn, Vesta and Proserpina all in Gemini. Looking forward to the next Zoom, I think I have struggled with fully expressing myself for a long time. Do you have a sister/sisters? Or a female cousin who was in the family home? It’s common with Vesta in Gemini in the Third House of siblings. Self-expression can be affected by sibling rivalry when young, or other issues involving sisters. Sometimes the female dominance comes from cousins, or girls/women as neighbours. Saturn in Gemini suggests siblings in general have been something to carry, from the time you were born. Proserpina is the part of you that is the go-between there too. As language development is tied to siblings, neigbours, cousins (because parents leave you to be baby sat by them, or you babysit) it would be worth looking at what was going on in childhood or adolescence. The Tarot is often a fast way into that ‘Aha’ moment of truth. And also the solution too.

I’m not sure how to interpret objects which are very close to another sign. For example, I have:
Neptune at 0°30′ Sagittarius
Salacia at 29°57’54” Capricorn
Ceres at 29°37′ Pisces
As far as the confusion goes, I could say that I’ve always been confused about other people (so, from Scorpio to Aquarius).
Neptune at 0 Sagittarius is sextile Salacia at 29 Capricorn, very close to 0 Aquarius. So, there is confusion about boundaries with foreigners, foreign countries and other languages or cultures involved in the worldwide web, publishing or academia. That’s Neptune in Sagittarius, common to your generation, so there is lots of floating and drifting between countries, across borders, and the usual muddle over boundaries on the internet. Even time zones between different countries can be confused all the time. Salacia is Neptune’s wife and a partner in other realities, other worlds, other escapes – and in Capricorn this is your career, academic career or unpaid work. To minimise the muddle, bring in scheduling, rules, regulations for yourself, limits, ‘knowns’ and avoid the classic Neptune and Salacia escapism of prescribed or recreational drugs; alcohol. You could add too much screen time or television to that, too. Awareness is everything in astrology so throw a few anchors, sea walls, light houses, lifeguards and flags at these areas of your life.

You have interpreted the charts correctly. Saturn and Jupiter are father and son, so you have an ancient myth from 2000 years ago coming alive in the marriage. I am sure you know that Saturn devoured all his children except Jupiter, who saved the day, released the rest and then helped his father into a new golden age. It’s quite deep! Ops was the mother and in Cancer, in the Fourth House, your way through is the house, garden or apartment; the actual home; the extended family circle on both sides and also the heritage, history and culture in the family trees. Your husband has a compatible Virgo Ops, so his way through is work, housework, gardening, unpaid work, caring, caretaking, volunteering. His way out can also occasionally be his own health and fitness.

I’m the youngest of 6 and even now in adulthood, I never feel as though my opinion is taken seriously by my siblings. Very, very interesting as I try to find my voice. Thank you – this has hit home in ways that I never thought, and is very pertinent at the moment. I’ve drawn the three of cups in the tarot, and I know this is myself and my daughters. Thank you! Ive pulled a few cards and they are pretty accurate for Saturn, Apollo and mostly for Ops! But Proserpina was 10 of wands/dispersion for how I’ve expressed it so far and 10 of Swords/Strife how I could better express it. Doesn’t ring much of a bell yet, walk away from groupthink perhaps or be more feisty. Will mull it over.
Proserpina is tied to Pluto, the South Node and North Node in your chart (close aspects) and the Tarot is showing you the Ten of Swords. The prone figure who will live to fight another day, while the group has eliminated someone – and that group will change as a result. One of those nodes is in Aries, ruled by Mars and associated with fighters and fighter instinct, as well as battles. You have a past life there, probably in the navy, army or air force. Proserpina and Pluto reflect power plays where one person does in fact have to deal with the majority and then make a comeback. Pluto was rounded upon by the people, and Jupiter, and Ceres – and even his own wife – until he rose again to see another day and do it all very differently. I hope that helps.

Thank you. Gemini and the Third House are usually internet and media, but technology which contributes to communication is common too. You actually don’t have more than the average number of factors in Gemini, but as you know – you have a huge stellium in ambitious Capricorn. You want a different career. You also have a Psyche-Saturn opposition. The boring answer is ‘patience, patience, patience’ here. The slow crawl to the top of a mountain is far more likely than shopping around for different mountains. One thing that will satisfy your ambition (which is huge) is part-time study, training or a hobby which is a career booster as well. You are only just now coming out of Pluto in Capricorn which completely transformed your C.V. over many years and put you into so many highly political situations with others regarding the control or the power where you worked. The future will not be like that. Make like a mountain goat, and start cautiously edging your way up just one mountain you choose. The real opportunities will come when Jupiter goes into Virgo and trines your Capricorn stellium, so that’s mid 2027 to mid 2028 when you could easily land your dream job; win an award; be promoted; gain academic honours.

I’m wondering what having Pluto and Prosperina both in Libra in my chart and so close means? Significant relationships have alluded me and a theme I have noticed is as soon as I meet a potential partner another woman turns up that grabs their interest more (on quite a few occasions they have gone on to have very long established relationships with these woman). Younger me allowed low self confidence to get the better of me and just retreat, feeling heart broken and crushed. Older me still retreats as I just don’t see the point of fighting for attention. Will this pattern every reverse?

I am so sorry you have had this pattern in relationships where men have gone for other women. So what’s going on? Hygiea, Proserpina and Pluto are all in Libra in your Seventh House of marriage, divorce, de facto partnership and separation. You are cautious here (Hygiea) pre-empting issues before they can happen, screening and protecting against outcomes you don’t want. You do a lot of ‘love life insurance’ if you like. You are also a go-between (Proserpina) who bridges the gap between others. Finally you want total control here (Pluto) but of course never get it. When you say ‘I just don’t see the point of fighting for attention’ you are articulating your opposition from Fortuna at 15 Aries to Hygiea at 15 Libra. Aries is ‘fight’ in the First House, ruled by Mars and here your assertive, upfront side is against your rather cautious, protective side. As you will have plenty more opportunities to date and get into partnerships with Jupiter cycles ahead (starting mid 2026 onwards) what can you do in future? Step one is understanding Pluto. Be open to compromise with partners and understand that power and control play themselves out in dating and you can dominate. This is an interesting and informative blog, as was the last one. I have both Saturn and Ops in Sagittarius. Interestingly, foreigners and foreign places, travel etc has played a huge part in my life for good or ill. Or should I say, good and ill. Thank you. You have lived out the Saturn (challenge) and Ops (solution) in your chart exactly, in Sagittarius, the foreigners and foreign places sign, in the Ninth House of travel and migration. In fact, you have a stellium (four or more factors) in Sagittarius in the Ninth House so it’s complicated. With Minerva and Panacea in Sagittarius, though, you will always have your wisdom to lean on (watch for owl synchronicities) and will always have a solution, even though it’s never black and white (Panacea does that). Your wise Minerva and clever Mercury suggest you not only learn the language, you also learn the cultural subtext. Always do your homework with foreign places before you go, of course, and the transport that takes you there. This is particularly important until 2033 as Uranus in Gemini will be in opposition to your Sagittarius factors, so quite unexpected challenges are there; double check climate conditions, the airlines, the local scene and so on – which I am sure your Minerva side does anyway.

Thank you. Health is Virgo and your Sixth House. The only thing you have there is the asteroid Fortuna at 13 Virgo. You habitually put employers, staff, colleagues, clients on pedestals as the Kings/Queens of your world – without seeing what you are doing – then just as unwittingly pull them down, off the pedestal. You promote and demote people in the work place, perhaps at university/college (if you study) and certainly with any unpaid work, housework or volunteering. Up they go and down they go. Your stomach problems mean you have to reduce the hours, or even leave the role, so you get out of it that way. A random, endlessly spinning world where everything is always churning does rather suggest it’s hard to digest and absorb what is going on – so your tummy thoughtfully gives you an out. Fortuna at 13 Virgo aspects Saturn at 12 Scorpio (finance and property restrictions and limitations); that may be part of it. Or perhaps friends and groups are also involved (Aquarius is tied in). Ask the Tarot and Oracles what the stomach issues deliver for you. It’s an odd question when I appreciate how difficult it is, but thinking laterally, way outside the actual medical condition, can sometimes give you a new answer. There is a theory that we ‘speak’ our issues through our bodies, so if you can’t stomach someone, if you don’t have the guts to do something – that may be part of it too.

So, The Devil with Vesta is about women who find themselves dealing with male sexuality and the sin of adultery, or affairs, or attraction (even just daydreaming) about one who is committed. Sagittarius, Pisces and Aquarius patterns hook into Vesta in your chart, so you may experience it with foreigners; in foreign countries; subconsciously (in your dreams) or with friends and groups (Aquarius). The Hanged Man for Salacia is about escaping from the real world by dangling/being suspended about travelling or moving. When you habitually procrastinate, or just hover in mid-air, without acting, you take a holiday from reality, never managing to choose East or West, North or South, this town or that town, this country or that country. This hooks into the Sagittarius part of your chart. The Seven of Wands for Proserpina shows one against the many. So you go between quite powerful people, places, organisations or situations trying to bridge a considerable gap; often the gap is between towns or countries.

Thank you, I will pass that on. You have a male side to your character which is remote, inaccessible, distanced, fascinating, appealing, attractive. Cupido in Scorpio in the Eighth House is a lure for people who like your status or even are drawn to your obvious money, but at the same time, you are ‘watery’ here (Scorpio is a water sign) so you drift, float and cruise. If you want to engage sexually and financially with people, you have to join a group, network, circle, community. That’s your best bet.

Thanks. I use a different system to you, so the North Node and Salacia are not in your Sixth House, they are in your Eleventh House. Hello Jessica, apologies, today morning something cropped up again and I am absolutely sick of this situation. Since two years, nasty nasty neighbours trying to exhort money not wanting to pay water bills n cutting our water supply. It happened today morning again, several hours. it’s me ( Aries Nar 21 78) and my mom (Taurus may6 48). They are so bad, we’ve never come across such bad vile characters, they are not humans, yelling , bullying , threatening n cutting water. it’s illegal. new neighbours bought the third apt 3 months ago , they and us have to complete some long pending repairs, which is barely movie ng of ven though we paid in advance. Thank you for coming along to the Zoom. Too funny that you spent so many years sailing at sea – you can see the ship in the King of Cups, cruising the horizon. This is the male side of your personality, expressed through Neptune, the god of the ocean, trine Mars (another male symbol) in Cancer. Hygiea is a female asteroid and tied into this rather masculine side of your personality too. You never really have a secure home, a foundation or roots to hold you – with Mars in Cancer in the Fourth House of real estate and belonging, in aspect to Neptune. It’s a pleasure. The South Node in Leo in opposition to the North Node in Aquarius, shows an inner conflict between the friend and the sexual relationship, or the group and the date. Thank you. So Saturn in Leo in the Fifth House is about babies, infants, children, teenagers and younger adults. It is also about courtship and the bedroom. This is where you find yourself hemmed in by destiny, limited by circumstance and fated to deal with quite heavy obstacles. This applies no matter if you are in a relationship or not; have children or not. Saturn is there from birth so one might say you were born into a situation where this side of your life was always going to be challenging. The Ops in Gemini placement in your Third House suggests that it is through your brother, sister, cousin or neighbour that you will find solutions. It is also through your way with words, ideas and images on the internet, in the media, education or publishing – that answers will come. Your time runs out on in March 2026. I have Saturn in Scorpio – I believe it’s meant to be one of the more difficult placements! From what you’ve said, I think it is about sex, death and money – finance in relation to marriage and mortgage, family inheritance (most of any inheritance from my parents went to a sister) and what you leave in your will or as your inheritance (I can see how I factor being able to leave money to my children into my decisions). My question then is how does having Ops in Aries help me deal with these challenges? Is it by drawing on Aries traits like independence and confidence that I make my way through the challenges?

I travelled from US to Canada to Europe Croatia Bosnia and came back from 21 August to 15 September to visit my family.
During travels I ended up at doctor in Croatia who discovered I have elevated blood pressure. I ended up in Vancouver Canadian ER where they did a lots of tests on me and found nothing. I came back home on September 15 and ended up in ER on September 16 here in US to hear from doctors after many tests in ER that everything is fine with me and that I have normal blood pressure.
Concluding with doctors here in US ER that I am most likely entering perimenopause as most unusual symptoms I had menstrual cycle two times in June July and August and I most likely am deficient in Iron because other symptoms are when walking short distance I am tired I break sweat in my head and I am so very weak…. I have an appointment with OBGYN on 29 September and I am looking to make appointment with endocrinologist to find out what is going on with my vitamins minerals and hormones….
Currently all I can do is follow protocol for menopause from Medical Medium book and take all minerals and vitamins he mentions until I discover what is exactly going on with me… When I was in my mother house I dreamt a lot and a little black and white feather ended up on me on my bed even though my mother doesn’t have anything in bedroom with feathers…And my father that passed away in 2015 was in my dreams…

I am very sorry you are so ill at the moment. You saw your family and need looking after. Beyond the night sweats and tiredness, which is your problem, you also need care. Your parents are with you in the spirit world and giving you signs (like the feather) but being with relatives triggered a need to be nurtured and made a fuss of. Doctors can do this to some extent, and sympathetic (but distant) family members can do this too, but actually, it’s time to find more from your friends, or if that is not enough, to make new friends, or join new groups of people, where you will be looked after and paid greater attention to. If this does turn out to be menopause, join a menopause support group. In a perfect world we would all meet the perfect man, at the perfect time to help us, but of course that’s not always possible. Your chart says, you need people – on a level you don’t have at the moment – so find that in your life. A new lifestyle, way of eating and drinking, exercising, sleeping and relaxing, will fall into place in two stages. January then February. You will find what suits you. Long-term, years into the future, you may be meditating, doing yoga or swimming and it will become a daily vacation for you.

I have raised my two children on my own – by my choice – without child support for 19 years now.
Because their fathers were unfit and toxic for the father role at the time.
So I have no choice but happily took over since my youngest was only 2 years old – when Uranus was in Aries in 2011 ( my fifth house )
So my healthy, strong, happy children didn’t have any contact or relationship with their father forever since.

Thank you. Ops was never a single mother, as she remained married to Saturn, her husband, throughout. However, Ops is a symbol of women who put in a great deal of time, energy and effort to overcome the problems in their lives and are eventually vindicated. You have Ops in Leo in the Fifth House of children and raised two of them by yourself. You had no child support. Just as important is Pluto and Juno in Libra at 23 degrees, in a conjunction in your Seventh House of marriage, divorce, de facto relationships and separation. Pluto is about control. Juno is about commitment. That’s an unusual conjunction. Not many people have it. Could you find a new partner and have more children, or become a stepmother to his children? Yes.
