NURTURING

 

When you nurture a child or a situation, you are coaxing him or her (or that) into shape. Taming and containing. If you think about a mountain holding the sky, you are close. The I Ching is ancient and we are talking about a long-gone Chinese definition here, in a very old language. Yet, what is sometimes called ‘The taming power of the great’ is about something mighty (like a mountain) providing a foundation for the sky. A mother can provide a foundation for an infant. The energy and influence of a person, group or organisation which has so much strength can nurture what/who it holds. Who or what is supports.
