Football, Astrology and the World Cup

Are you watching the World Cup 2018? 

The England football team (Three Lions) was born with Leo Rising on 5^th March 1870 at ‘around 3.00pm’ according to The Guardian football report of its first match against another footballing nation – Scotland.

There is an 18 degree pattern in the England chart which kicked off in a spectacular way back on 30^th July 1966 when West Germany were defeated 4-2.  On the day,  Jupiter at 18 Cancer made a perfect conjunction to the England team’s Uranus at 18 Cancer.  That 18 degree hotspot was also activated in the build-up to World Cup 2014 in December 2013 and May 2014.

Back then Jupiter crossed 18  Cancer. England, the nation, has patterns which tie into that transit. She has  Neptune at 18 Scorpio. Flashback to the magical summer of 1966 – when England won at Wembley, Jupiter at 18 Cancer was exactly trine the nation’s Neptune position. It’s all about 18 degrees for England the team and England the nation.

England (three lions, Leo Rising) also seems to enter World Cup drama on Leo patterns.

The summer of 2014 saw Jupiter enter Leo for the first time since 1990 when England got to the semi-final. The 2014 Leo England manager Roy Hodgson, was born 8^th August 1947.

He has lucky Jupiter at 18 Scorpio in his horoscope. It made a perfect trine to Uranus at 18 Cancer in the England team chart and a lovely quincunx to Mercury at 18 Aquarius.

1990 and the 18 Degree Pattern – Gazza’s Tears

Now, time to zero in on  4^th July 1990 in Turin.  In the final week of June that year, just before England’s famous semi-final when Gazza cried, lucky Jupiter had passed the magic spot –  18 Cancer – in the England chart. On the day of the semi-final Chiron was at 18 Cancer too. This 18 degree position of Jupiter in the England chart always kicks off  dramatically during a World Cup because not only was England born with Uranus at 18 Cancer and Mercury at 18 Aquarius, she also has the Ascendant at 16 Leo, close by.

The 16, 17, 18, 19 Degree Pattern in the England Football Team Horoscope

England’s fortunes bounce like a ball at 16, 17, 18 and 19 degrees in any World Cup.  When she beat Germany with an incredible 5-1 result in Munich on 1st September 2001, Psyche was at 17 Leo. Diana was at 16 Aries. The Midheaven at the 7.30pm kick-off was at 16 Sagittarius.

That’s very close to being a perfect grand trine. Michael Owen, who famously scored a hat-trick for England in the 2001 victory over Germany was born with Diana at 17 Aquarius, locking into the pattern.

The 2014 FIFA World Cup Final was held on 13 July 2014 at 4.00pm in Brazil in Rio de Janeiro. Was there anything hooking into that 16, 17, 18 and 19 pattern?

Yes. Uranus the upsetter was at 16 Aries at kick-off. The asteroid Aesculapia which describes resurrection and revival was at 16 Cancer. Another asteroid, Apollo, which describes leaders and heroes was at 16 Virgo. Heavy Saturn was at 16 Scorpio. The maverick Chiron was at 17 Pisces. There was something about that grand final which pushed every button the England team had, no matter if the players were watching from London by that point!

I am certainly no Raymond Domenech. The last time I played football was at the age of eighteen and I was taken off at half-time for daydreaming when I should have been dribbling.  Domenech, the former France manager famously used astrology, to his advantage, making statements like this:  “When I have got a Leo in defence, I’ve always got my gun ready. I know he’s going to want to show off at one moment or another and cost us.

2018 – England Versus Croatia – Is Football Coming Home?

This will be the most controversial and confronting World Cup in years, according to the horoscopes. Certainly for England.  Mercury is Retrograde during this World Cup in 2018 just as it was in 2014 and also in 1966,  so expect more than one Kenneth Wolstenholme moment: ‘They think it’s all over…it is now!’ 

The pattern at 16, 17, 18, 19 in the England chart is triggered once more as England meets Croatia on Wednesday 11th July 2018 at 7.00pm.

This time it is transiting Neptune at 16 Pisces. It is exactly in line with the Leo 16 Ascendant of the Three Lions.

What does Neptune rule? Confusion. Illusion. Distortion. All is not what it appears to be in the Croatia- England game as I write this on Sunday 8th July.

We also have Mercury Retrograde Shadow moving to 16 Leo the next day, Thursday 12th July, then the old trickster continues his strange path right across 17, 18, 19 degrees as the World Cup rolls on to a climax.

I know that the football magazines were calling Russia 2018 one of the most corrupt World Cups in history before it had even begun. Fair enough. We are talking about a known money-laundering mecca.

Mercury is the messenger. He is the media. He is also the referee delivering the cards – and the news. What happens when he goes forward, stands still, then goes backwards across the World Cup and its aftermath?

Disputed results for years. Technical problems with the score boards, media coverage or other technology. Quite possibly, match-fixing with that exact Neptune hit. Drugs. I love the beautiful game (this is me celebrating England’s win over Sweden in London with another fan in June 2018) but – if you throw in that cover-up eclipse as well on Friday 13th July – this is a very, very murky Mercury Retrograde World Cup.

When did Mercury turn Retrograde Shadow? Right on the Russia-Croatia game. Hours after this was taken. You know what else is retrograde on this World Cup 2018? Mars. The planet of sportsmen.

We put ‘re’ in front of everything on retrogrades so this World Cup is about rescheduling, reallocated players, reversed goals and referee retractions and redecided verdicts and the rest. Months or years later. But still. Come on England!

How Did Astrology Rate in Predicting the 2014 Final?

I find it interesting to go back to an old 2013 prediction about the 2014 final to see what happened:

“Uranus in Aries describes a team which is more like a military platoon. This is an aggressive opponent and there will be stretchers. Aries is ruled by Mars the God of War, after all. The game itself will see the world turning upside-down. That is what Uranus does. Though in this case it is the World Cup which will turn upside-down. What fascinates me most about this final is Aesculapia, the asteroid which brings people and situations back from the brink of death. I predict the most miraculous comeback for a player or team which, to all intents and purposes, seems to be ‘over.’ Aesculapia in Cancer brings a resurrection for one intensely patriotic team –  because he’s in Cancer. You would also, by now, looking at the horoscopes of players and managers, and the nation concerned, looking for a 16 degree hotspot. The asteroid Apollo, who is the son of Jupiter, is at 16 Virgo. This is a superstar on the pitch. He is a rock star, hero and leader. If not a captain then the shining star on the day; Virgo suggests someone who is obsessed with his diet and fitness. Finally, we come to Saturn at 16 Scorpio. These are torn-up bets. This Cup Final is above all else, about gambling and big business but Saturn will dole out a very heavy lesson for anyone who puts that above their love of football.”

The Verdict, all those months later? Astrology’s strange timekeeping proved right.

For true football fans, the question is not, who will win, but unfortunately – with Mercury Retrograde Shadow, Mars Retrograde and a cover-up eclipse – when will the next inquiry begin?

Watch for

1. Freak outcomes which pay large returns to gamblers.

2. Blind referees

3. Goalkeepers who mysteriously miss saves.

It’s the World Retrocup and the world will be re-examining the results for a long time to come.
