The Modern I Ching oracle cards are always free on my website.
They can be used alone or with the Tarot to give yourself a double reading. It’s like having two psychics help you. One is British-American. One is Asian. In fact, the creators of the original cards came from those countries.
The Life Map Spread
Draw one Modern I Ching card at a time, to show you the life map that is right for you at the moment. Focus on a journey that will take you one month, two months, three months and so on. It’s up to you.
The first card shows you where you are going – the destination.
The second card shows you the obstacles – the road blocks.
The third card shows you the correct direction to get there.
The fourth card shows you the best way to travel.
So, for example, your first card may be JOY as you can see below. That’s where you are headed. But how do you get there?

What are your gifts? Your assets, advantages, superpowers? This is a really useful Modern I Ching reading and again, you draw one card at a time.
First card: What is special, priceless and different about you.
Second card: Who or what is getting in the way?
Third card: What to do, to overcome the second card.
Fourth card: How you can use your gifts to get what you want from life.
Perhaps your gifts are shown by CALCULATION below. You know how to get your budget exactly right. You know how to save money or make it.
Keep and Lose
To be happiest now and for the next 12 months, what should you keep in your life and what should you lose? This is a two-card spread. It’s very simple but extremely effective.
Tip: Always tune in with the present first, the pre-card before the reading should accurately show you what’s going on for you now. If it doesn’t, take a deep breath, concentrate and try again.
Example: What you should keep, to be happiest, is INCREASE. Keep on increasing your garden by planting more fruit trees, for example, or increase your profits in a small business by increasing. your customers. what to lose? SURPLUS. What is surplus to your budget? Where are you throwing money away? Time is money. Are you throwing away precious time?

Thank you. This is about money so it’s going to be the Taurus weather ahead. You have three factors in Taurus in your Second House of personal income and real estate. The thunder is the new Chiron in Taurus cycle of 2026, 2027 which suggests an experiment with everything you own, earn or owe. You will save or make money by nurturing (someone or something) but in a very different way. For example, working as a nanny for no pay, but great bed and board – or nurturing a new venture tied to the plant-based food market. It’s on that level.

Great. Herd is usually about Aquarius factors in the chart and you have Psyche there at 11 degrees in the Eleventh House of teams, allies, friends and the hive mind. Pluto is slowly moving towards 11 Aquarius and Uranus is moving towards 11 Gemini, long-term, so you are being set up for something special with a brotherhood and sisterhood.

You often find women who are sincere, true and authentic with a lot of Virgo factors and yet they can also be too humble, too self-effacing and rather backward about coming forward. So I would guess you have a Virgo-esque chart and looking now, I find you have a whopping stellium there. You do need to step up and take credit, where credit is due. Possibly also be less ‘Virgo the virgin’ and a little more free with your sexual self-expression, no matter if it’s the way you dress or other, ahem, activities. None of that takes away from what the I Ching says works for you – which is your complete sincerity. It’s a winner.

I did the win or lose. My keep was abundance and my lose was thunder. I am a sun scorpio with Saturn in my 6th house and finding it really hard coping with a very unwell partner. I have been caring all my life since the age of 14 and want it to stop, is that wrong. I am 67 now.
When my ex husband passed away last year it all ended for me. No more caring just time for me and my son. Now a year later this has happened and I am finding it so hard. Does the thunder card relate to this. Thanks Jessica.
Keep the abundance and lose the thunder, suggests hanging on to the money, the house, the apartment or the valuables. Presumably you were the beneficiary of your ex-husband’s finances? Even if not, you have been given abundance in other ways. Preserve that. If your current partner is very unwell, then again, you may be the beneficiary of his will. The Thunder to release describes the drama; the storm. It sounds to me as if you were predicting the future, perhaps some months or years, depending on when your current partner dies. For some reason your mind was not on the present so you have gone to the rest of 2026, 2027, even 2028 or beyond. Thunder would describe the release of tension ahead, which is normal when a long period of caring stops and the stretch is over. A tight and prolonged period of waiting for the storm (but also the relief) is suggested. When it comes, let it go and farewell it. I am sure you will do that anyway.

Thanks so much for your insight. I forgot to mention that I also did a tarot card and asked how do I tell my unwell partner that I don’t want him here with me all the time. Sorry I know that sounds awful doesnt it but I feel trapped. . He has his own flat and I would like some time apart from him at times. I pulled the hanged man what does that mean. You are perfectly entitled to your own space even if your partner is unwell. He is The Hanged Man in the card. You will need to be a little bit more patient as he has to go through a period of dangling – procrastinating – unable to make a decision. While this happens light will dawn and he will eventually decide to make the big change. He will choose your place or his. Less likely, he will sit in the middle of both, but if you are firm, he can go to his own residence (or quite another; not yours). He is in a state of suspended animation but he needs it, so that he can become more spiritual.

Hi Jessica, I did a follow on tarot card as the answers you have given me are so true as to what is happening at the moment. I asked What is going to happen with my partners health and I got the death card, the follow on for the hanged man!! You mentioned that light will dawn and he will make a big change.(Hanged man card) I see the Death card is change, endings, transformation. What do you see in that card please. Thanks again! I promise this is my last question I just cannot believe how the cards are coming out at the mo.
The Hanged Man and Death are just as you think; your partner is suspended, paralysed, procrastinating, hanging around, stuck – but it serves a purpose. It helps him become enlightened. When the time is right he will move towards the ‘death’ of the old life and the forthcoming birth of the new. A younger generation, his own or other people’s children, will be strongly affected by this shift.
Jupiter is currently conjunct my natal Cancer Uranus, Square natal Sun/Neptune in Libra. I just received an IRS refund, but every 11 years some quite big changes have occurred. I’m wondering what to expect this time as I’m not planning on yet another International move. Hopefully online expansion and publishing a book in the year ahead. Last night, I watched a program called “Rock Legends” on MTV about David Bowie. I searched to see if you ever did Bowie’s chart and only found brief mention of him in a blog post “Chiron in Aries 2019 to 2026 | February 17, 2019”
The TV program was a condensed history of Bowie’s career from the plastic saxophone his mother gave him for his birthday, to starting a band at age 14, to changing his name from David Jones to David Bowie after the eponymous knife of American Frontiersman James Bowie.
There are two physical things I discovered about Bowie which I didn’t know before watching this show.
1. I knew Bowie had one green eye and one blue eye, but I didn’t know that Bowie was punched in the left eye while fighting over a girl in high school. Because of this injury, his left eye was permanently dilated which is visible in every photo he ever took afterwards.
2. Bowie’s teeth were yellow because he smoked 40-50 cigarettes a day. That averages one cigarette every 19 minutes during a 16-hour day. One would think that Bowie would have died of lung cancer, but it was his liver that gave out (most likely) from having to process “industrial (from the documentary, not my wording) amounts of cocaine”.
It was Bowie’s cocaine addiction that led him to relocate from Los Angeles to Berlin (with friend Iggy Pop in tow) to “get clean’. The problem was, Berlin was the heroin capital of Europe when he arrived.
Now to the song “HEROES.
Below is something I found on the internet about the song which Bowie composed during his 4 years in Berlin:
“David Bowie recorded this in 1977 in West Berlin, in a studio near the Berlin Wall. From the control room, he could see East German guards in their watchtowers. The song was inspired by a couple he saw kissing by the wall. The quotation marks in the title were intentional, Bowie wasn’t singing about war heroes, but about the “heroism” of two people loving each other in a hostile place, even if only for a moment. In 1987, he performed it in front of the Reichstag, and the sound crossed the wall, reaching thousands in East Berlin. Some say that concert helped spark the emotions that led to the wall falling two years later. After his death in 2016, Germany’s Foreign Ministry thanked Bowie for “helping bring down the wall.””
After reading the above, it occurred to me that “HEROES” is about a man and a woman… or to be more gender specific… a HERO and a HEROINe. It is a semantic stretch, but the irony of heroin does not escape me.
A couple weeks back, a friend of mine who lives in Berlin sent me a bunch of photos he took. One of them was a mural of Ziggy Stardust on the apartment building where Bowie lived for 4 years. My Berliner friend tells me that people still leave flowers and notes there even today.
About the name Ziggy Stardust. It is said that Bowie saw the word (Ziggy) on a tailor’s shop sign while riding a train. He chose it as a joke about the costume-heavy nature of his act, and also because it had a subtle nod to his friend Iggy Pop.
You’re probably bored already, but I thought what I learned about Bowie was interesting enough to share with someone into music.
You should run Bowie’s chart someday and give an analysis on the blog. I’d be interested in seeing his astrology.

I am in Sydney researching The Sydney Music Walk and was looking at his old apartment and his favourite pub yesterday. We were watching Iggy Pop last night. So this reminds me to either consider a Sydney Bowie Walk or just to double check he appears on the general tour.

Around Age 13, I got a set of rune stones with a book. Although, I played and dabbled on different occasions over the years, I forgot I had them until recently. Now having read your article about the a I-Ching,, my interest has been re-ignited; it’s all in the timing, I guess.
I enthusiastically, used your instructions for the life reading as I feel the hold I’ve been in for so so unbearably long, odd about to release me .. I had earlier read the monthly horoscope for June, which appears to support my feeling .. that something big will break soon. Inspired to use the I-Ching I got the following hexagrams: 31 Respect, 62 Surplus, 9 Herd, 28 Jaws – I didn’t really understand respect as a destination (I am a very respectful person) & wonder if I’m to recognise others respect for me, more?
Then, the gifts: I feel I have an overall sense of its meaning and feel it aligns to the horoscope reading. I got Hexagrams: 54 Home – no idea how this relates to gifts, 26 Nurturing I sense I need to be the support to enable the bigger picture for someone or something, 63 Crossing, made me laugh – been crossing, on the move for years, constantly jettison my belongings etc, Then 51, thunder – I’ve suspect this is having to be open for the big change which Is coming as per the horoscope.
Finally, I baselines the present with 22 Elegance, which I get, as I do for keeping 6 Strife, although I’m tired of it. But, to lose 8 Closeness, I don’t get as I don’t really have anything close to lose, unless it’s saying I’m to allow people in.
Apologies, I hadn’t intended this to be so long. If you are able to provide some clarity and it confirmation I’d appreciate it.

It’s actually about the menopause, did you pick up on that? It doesn’t matter which side of it you are on in life, it’s always about a different kind of closeness (that’s the present). And of course some women do see it as strife. Nurturing is also an issue with either side of the menopause as it is of course the end of fertility and motherhood. A different kind of motherhood begins for many.

I finally tried the I Ching – choosing 1 card. As I said before I am struggling with solving an issue in my house – my children want us to sell the house and move on – my husband wants to stay and solve the issue. I got the Hexagram 64 – the card with the backpack after shuffling – please let me know your thoughts – Do I solve the issue? Do I sell? When do I sell? Thanks.
That card is about selling the house and moving on, assuming you asked ‘What is the best thing to do about the house by the end of 2026?’ Framing the question in detail with a timeline is the best way. If you didn’t do that, have another go. The same card may even turn up.

I did the I-Ching and got 4 carsd – Hex, waiting, decrease and cauldron – I specifically kept career in mind. I was blown by the analysis.
AI says when i put these 4 carsd together for analysis – “you are preparing for a massive professional upgrade, but you must cut back excess baggage and patiently wait for the right opportunity to strike.”
I am tired of getting stagnated, passed on, and going through transformation over and over again with no end in sight. Please give me your inputs for my career.
The Modern I Ching answered you faithfully. The baggage you need to lose is the resentment and frustration with people who keep bypassing you at work. I realise you are justified in feeling this way but the cards are telling you to lose the emotion. You can try again and ask ‘What attitude should I adopt over the next 18 months for a superior new job, promotion’ (and so on) and see what the old oracle advises. Given that you have Jupiter in Capricorn in the Tenth House, I would be amazed if Jupiter in Virgo trine natal Jupiter did not throw you the opportunity and solution of a lifetime in 2027, 2028.
